The Marine is the basic terran unit. It is effective against both air and ground and is even better with increaded attack range. Maines like Firebats have the option of getting Stim Pack upgraded> Stim Pack makes the marines move and shoot faster but it also hurts them ten life. Marines are best either with a unit like a Siege tank of a Golaith or with four of them in a bunker with increased attack range, which is one of the most effective ways to gaurd your base agains ground assult. Marines are not very good for a large assault unless you hope to win by numbers and not forces Back to Terran Units
