The below two rules are very important. Failure to follow these rules will result in termination of all classes, membership as well as removal of certification for any rank held within our school or federation.
1. NEVER USE KARATE TO PLAY AROUND WITH ANYONE, ITS FOR DEFENSIVE PURPOSES ONLY.
2. STUDENTS WILL NEVER TEACH OTHERS WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED IN CLASS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION AND APPROVAL OF THE TEACHER OR INSTRUCTORS.
3. ALWAYS RESPECT YOUR PARENTS AND AUTHORITY.
Students should learn and remember the following rules because they constitute proper dojo behavior and protocol.
Etiquette:
1. Students must always show respect to their peers and instructors which is a sign of courtesy.
2. A bow of respect will be performed by all students and instructors before entering and leaving the (dojo).
3. All students will bow first before asking any black belt a question. Instructors should be addressed as Mr.,Mrs, or Ms. and their last name or by their correct titles.
4. Always inform the instructor or teacher when you will be taking a leave of absence.
Protocol:
1. If a student arrives late for class he or she should open the door quietly, and wait for permission to join the class from the teacher. However, This student will do basics the whole class and nothing else.
2. Students arriving 20-30 minutes late will do one kata 50-times before he or she leaves the dojo. However, what ever number you stop on, you will continue the following class.
3. Absolutely NO drinking of alcohol prior to the dojo. If any student is found with the smell of alcohol on his/her breath, they will be asked to leave immediately. This rule may result in the termination of classes.
4. NO eating or drinking in the dojo.
5. NO smoking in the dojo or on the premises.
6. There will be NO playing around in the dojo or the dressing rooms.
7. Tuition must be paid on time.
8. Students are not permitted to practice techniques on other students which have not been taught by the teacher or instructors.
9. Only kobudo students will be allowed to handle weapons.
10. There is absolutely NO talking on the floor when the instructors are teaching, especially the teacher. The only noise you should hear is the sound of the drills.
Dress Code:
1. Absolutely no shoes in the dojo area.
2. All students must wear a pure white karate uniform only because its tradition. Instructors/black belts can wear the traditional white karate uniform or a (black top & white bottom) which is our kobudo uniform.
3. No hats, shoes or jewelry is allowed in the dojo.
4. Good hygiene must be observed by all, so please keep your fingers and toenails trimmed and clean at all times.
Sparring:
1. No sparring unless instructed by an adult black belt.
2. Safety gear must be worn at all times. This includes head gear, mouth guard, and hand, foot, and shin pads. foul cups are mandatory for all male students. chest protectors are encouraged during sparring.
3. Light contact only. No contact to the face, throat, spine or groan.
4. There will be no take downs and throws allowed during the sparring.
5. Blind, swinging techniques will not be allowed during sparring.
6. Students are not allowed to spar with students of other schools.
