This flight took a little less than an hour and a half. Starting in Ketchikan, the weather looked decent, which was good, because I had decided to go VFR on this flight rather than IFR so I wouldn't get vectored into a mountain. We would go around the bottom of the Misty Fjords then up the border straight into Stewart. I met the two students at PAKT next to the pumps. After loading up, yelling "Clear Prop!" and taxiing to the runway, we took off at 17:56.
After making a small course change we began our climb out.
For the time being, we would cruise at 4000, until the overcast layer lifted. Here we are at 4000 passing over BFUn.
After a while, as predicted, the overcast layer broke up and lifted, so we climbed to 6000 so we would be clear of the FAA regs throughout the flight. After coming to (and almost overshooting the border), I turned and went up the waterway.
Almost halfway up, the waterway doglegs. Here I am turning to keep on course, after finding our spot on the map.
After the waterway widened a little, I knew we were out of the monument, and I began descending. Here we are after Stewart came into sight.
After throwing off altitude fast, I lined up with runway 35 and touched down as the long shadow appeared next to the Beaver.
We taxiied to parking, where I turned around as the lights came on from inside. After shutting down, I pushed the plane back to the edge of the concrete.
We unloaded, they gave me the check, and I went inside. Whether or not I stay here for the night is still up in the air. It'll be dark in an hour, so I might spend the night here.
