Hope you don't mind me taking the liberty of flying this one in FSX, since I've just recently gotten back into this hobby and have yet to get my FS9 set up the way I want. Also, I apologize for the screens... for whatever reason the utility I used only saved the first four I took. The very last one was still saved to the clipboard, so I was able to include that one as well. I won't be offended if you repost this for either of these reasons. Between now and the next flight I'll look into a new SS program. Anyway, onto the PIREP... I was in Juneau when I saw this posted, so I scooted on up to Skagway to meet the kayakers. Got there late afternoon, here I am parked near the threshold of runway 20. Loaded up the passengers and the gear, and that poor Beaver could barely handle it. It was a tight squeeze and actually a little overweight before I siphoned out some of the AVGas and left it in Skagway. After that I headed on down the runway since there's no proper taxiway at Skagway and turned around when I got to the end of 2. Turns out I loaded the thing pretty badly and a lot of the weight was on the back end, so we ended up having a steep takeoff. At least the back end of the floats didn't scrape the runway, that would have been embarrassing and probably would have necessitated the purchase of new water rudders. Most of the climb was fairly steep since the mountains rise up pretty quickly north of Skagway. I was a little worried since we were right at capacity, but climbing wasn't too much of an issue. This is where my screenshot program decided to take the rest of the night off. We settled into cruise at 4,000 and headed up the White Pass. Like a good bush pilot, I did an IFR... that is, an "I Follow Roads," and followed the road all the way to Carcross. They got some nice looks at Tutshi Lake and the Windy Arm of Tagish Lake and said they'd probably head up Tagish tomorrow. Carcross came into sight, and even though nobody was around, we flew a pattern from the crosswind leg for runway 5. As we turned final, I thought the trees had grown a little close to the runway, but oh well. The final was a bit sloppy since the yoke was in the way and I couldn't see my vertical speed and ended up blowing half the runway, but I still had a short rollout. Turned off, taxied toward the hangar, parked, and let them off. It's 1:15 on the East Coast, so I think I'm going to fly back some other time. Perhaps I'll fly the same route to get some screens that I wished I had on this flight and post them here.
