DHEA’s 2003-2004 school year’s end is fast approaching. At our March meeting, we will nominate
new board members. I encourage each
of you to take some time to contemplate volunteering or nominating someone you
believe can fulfill the challenging and rewarding opportunities involved in
holding a board position. Overall, being
involved with starting up the group and maintaining it since November, 2002 has
been rewarding. Personally, I have
learned a great deal about the legality of home education, Air Force Regulations,
and all that is involved in starting and continuing a group for an extended
period of time. I have also learned
a lot about people and meeting the needs of a group. I have met some great people through
this group, planning field trips, and guest speakers. This endeavor has demanded both personal
growth and commitment. I leave this
position with greater knowledge and understanding both personally and
professionally. I intend to take
the next year off from the group and will handing off my duties to the newly
elected President in May. Looking ahead, there is still much more for this
group to do. I am certain the new
board members will take on their positions with as much enthusiasm as Karen and
I did over a year and a half ago. I
look forward to seeing the group blossom into something greater than it already
is. With the help of its members,
it can. I hope each of take a look
at what you are realistically able to commit to, and go from there. I’d like to thank each of you for
your contributions and wish DHEA and all its members good luck!
