Basic requirements for setting up a birthchart.

The Chart

When creating the Natal Chart you will need Astrological Software. Astrolog is recommended (www.astrolog.org) and its a free download.

To set up each Chart you will need...

The Date of Birth.
The Time of Birth.
The Place of Birth.

You may also need the Longitude and Latitude of the birth place. If your software does not have this contact me.

Setting up a Chart with Astrolog.

When you have opened Astrolog a chart will appear that shows the positions of the present planets.

To set up your own chart click Info on the menu bar at the top of your screen. Then select Set Chart Info and a window will appear that requires the personal details.

Name, Location, Month, Day, Year and Time require no explanation.

Daylight

This asks the question, was daylight saving in affect on that day? In the U.K. between 1941 and 1947 double daylight saving occurred.

If you are in doubt about daylight saving times, let me know.

TimeZone -

The drop down menu gives you many choices. However, so many choices can be confusing. It is much easier to open your clock in the systems tray on your computer. There is a section there called Time Zone, find the time zone for the area of the place of birth, and note down how many hours + or - GMT. Then in the area for Astrolog TimeZone just put +2 or - 4 or whatever it may be.

Longitude and Latitude.

Astrolog does not store longitude and latitude data. If you do not know the latitude and longitude for the place of birth, email me and I will find out for you.

Finally, click the ok button. This will calculate your birthchart. Go to File then Save Chart Info.You will be required to give the Info a name, keep it short but recognizable.

Obscure Settings

We want to make sure we are all working from the same page. A few of the default 'Obsure' settings will need to be altered.

Click Settings at the top of the page(in Astrolog).

Then click Obscure Settings which is at the bottom of the menu.

This will bring up a tick list. On the right of the list you will find four boxes.

Capricorn Gyph should be set to American,
Uranus Glyph set to Hershal's,
Pluto's Glyph set to Astronomicals.
Lilith's Glyph to American, then click O.K.

Finally, click File, go to Save Settings. Save it under that name of astrolog.dat
