Review of: DM-INF-Embassy


 

 

I would like to Start off by saying that this map is fun to play. I don't recommend too many players, but it will keep you playing for awhile.

 

Layout: The layout was executed pretty well. The surrounding buildings look like true buildings you would find in the middle east. Toadie told me that he got the idea for his map from the movie, "Rules of Engagement". Now don't download this map expecting to be the embassy from the movie, because the movie was an inspiration. The embassy itself is small, but it works. It isn't exactly how I pictured an American embassy in Yemen, but it captures the general idea. My only complaint is that there is only two entrances into the embassy, and they meet up in the same impregnable room. Also, the garage is a little miscaled.

 

Texturing: Angelheart textures, not much more to say. Toadie textured well, but I have to lower the point value here, just because he used the texture pack directly, making the size of the map take a long time to download. (Like I'm one to talk, me and my 5MB texture pack from CTF-Turrum)

 

Lighting: Hmmm, not many problems that are relevant. He has some unlit walls here and there, but thats about it. Some areas are a little darker then they should be.

 

Bot Pathing: Bravo, Bravo, well, for the team starting outside anyhow. They enter the embassy, get killed, and take down troops that you would have to take out. Sort of kamikazees. Some bots will take sniper points in a building in the town. Now to the defenders. They almost made it, except most of the time, you'll deal with bots getting stuck on the balconey. This is major killer, since you have to enter a building, and can't even make it by the stairs. It's worse when you're on their team, since you can't even get downstairs! Some bots make it outside and onto the roof, but then there are those who get stuck in the stairs.

 

Fun Factor: Okay, its simple, defend or attack. Finally this is accomplished to be fun in deathmatch. I still play this map, and it is to be in my map list for awhile. The bots are challenging, especially on godlike:). Alternate teams to get the most out of the map.

 

Glitches: Almost flawless, but then:


-You can leave the level

-Some of the walls dissappear when looking at them.
