IT will be a family affair for Liz McLarnon when she sashays up the red carpet for the ECHO Entertainment Awards on Sunday evening. The Atomic Kitten star will be accompanied by her mum, aunt and brother at the glittering ceremony which showcases the best of Merseyside's talent. It is typical of the down-to- earth Aigburth- born singer, who admitted she likes nothing better than being back here on Merseyside. Liz said: "I am really looking forward to coming. I had such a funny time at the last one and at the party afterwards! "It is a really good ceremony and such a brilliant thing to have, I feel much m ore comfor table here because they are in my home town and I really feel like I belong." This year Liz and fellow Kittens Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost are in the running for Best Contribution to Music at the awards facing competition from Sugababes' Heidi Range and ex-Spice Girl Melanie C.Last year the trio walked away with a gong for their contribution to charity, but Liz said they never go to a ceremony expecting to win. She said: "It would be lovely to win but we never think we will. "Last year I was really proud that we won the charity award - people in Liverpool have big hearts and a lot of people could have won that award. "But we do think it's important to do whatever we can for charity." Liz will join the likes of showgirl Claire Sweeney, impressionist Jon Culshaw and host Les Dennis as well as a plethora of other Mersey stars of stage and screen at the Liverpool Empire. The 21-year-old admitted: "I do get a bit nervous wh e n I' m presenting. "But I'm looking forward to having a good time. "I really hope I can get the next day off work so I can let my hair down."
Best Mates (very sweet story!) LITTLE Alex Rowley has made three very special new friends. The five-year-old, who is battling a life threatening heart condition, has won the hearts of pop stars Atomic Kitten. Alex, from Widnes, was born with complex heart problems and has been in and out of Alder Hey hospital since he was 13 weeks old. He has already had more than 10 operations and faces more surgery this autumn. His mum Susan, 25, says that since meeting the girls last year, Alex has become their biggest fan. And the band's cards, phone calls and dedications have helped him through some difficult times. She said: "The girls have been great with Alex and have followed his progress. "They have made special efforts to see him and their visits give him something to look forward to. "He is always talking about his Kittens and they really mean a lot to him - even his school music report mentioned their influence. "They send him CDs and he constantly plays their videos in hospital." Natasha from the kittens said: "We first met Alex at our concert in Chavasse Park last year. "He is adorable and incredibly brave. "We have been in love with him ever since the first meeting. "He gave us an amazing welcome at our summer pops concert and helped make our performance in our home town even more special." Last year doctors were worried they had done all they could for Alex. But they are hoping to try another operation this month. His godmother, Paula Leather, said: "Theoretically Alex shouldn't be here but he surprises us all. "He has already started school which we thought would never happen. But we take each day as it comes. "The interest from Atomic Kitten gives him and his six-year-old sister Bethany a lift. Alex now sees the girls as his friends and we really wanted to thank them for that." Atomic Kitten Stick to Formula

HAMILTON has celebrated her new boob job by burning her old bras at
a bonfire party. I told you last month how the ATOMIC KITTEN had
her breasts boosted from a B to a D cup, finally giving her the figure
she wants. Following the op she asked pals round to her house to watch
her undies go up in smoke. One told me: “It was very funny and a
great way of marking the end of her days with a flat chest.†Jen bobs out for the night IF you turned your head to the side and squinted, this could be DENISE VAN OUTEN. But it is actually JENNY FROST with a new hairdo. The ATOMIC KITTEN stepped out for a night in London with a shorter, sleek blonde bob. Coincidentally, squinting is just what she was doing as she staggered out of the trendy Funky Buddha club, where she had been partying with bandmate LIZ McCLARNON. Jenny had forgotten her make-up, so she asked a stranger in the loo if she could use her lippy. But the girl just told Jenny to find her own. Clearly not a Kitten fan, then.
FROST
GETS COLD FEET AK Perform in Liverpool July 25!
ATOMIC KITTEN last night declared they were too big to play in Liverpool. They told the sell-out crowd that they should go and see them in concert in Manchester on their next tour. Despite telling the screaming fans they were "the best crowd in the world and when we come here it's the loudest", they informed the young fans there is not a big enough venue in Liverpool and they will be needing more seats because they are getting too big. But judging by their performance last night they wanted to give their home crowd a memorable show. In fact, so much so, they embarked on a rendition of the Beatles hit Ticket to Ride, which was one for the dads. Jenny, Tash and Liz entertained with a mixture of their most famous hits, including It's OK, Eternal Flame and Say Goodbye. They told the audience they were thrilled to have filmed the video in the city. They also mixed their classic hits with brand new material written by St Helens' Jenny Frost. The girls seem to be moving away from their pop style to slow ballads, which complement Natasha's melodic talent. But they still got the biggest cheer of the night for their most famous number one hit Whole Again. A dungaree-clad Liz made sure the crowd danced the night away and the other girls were only too happy to perform their old well-known routines. One to watch out for in the future is a Latino-inspired song written by Kylie Minogue, Keep Your Cat Eyes Peeled. Birthday bash for Tash
ATOMIC Kitten star Natasha Hamilton made it a real family affair when she celebrated her 21st birthday. The singer danced into the early hours at Liverpool's Pan American club with pals including bandmates Jenny Frost and Liz McLarnon. She was joined at the party by her parents Maria and George who were celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. Four hundred guests packed into the Albert Dock nightspot as the champagne, beer and cocktails flowed. They tucked into a lavish banquet of roast pork, smoked salmon, breaded lobster tails and rib-eye steaks. Birthday girl Natasha arrived at the party on Friday night in a limousine with her mum, dad and new boyfriend Gavin Hatcher. Soon after, fellow Kitten Liz, dressed in a sexy white dress, rolled up in an identical car. But Jenny used a less impressive method of getting to the bash - she was driven there in a Vauxhall Cavalier. One partygoer said: "It was a great do as Natasha had all her friends and family with her. "Everyone got into the swing of things and it was such a brilliant night. "There was a lot of champagne being drunk and once the food came out the guests really got stuck in. "Natasha, Liz and Jenny looked fantastic and it is easy to see they are the best of mates. "It was a real family bash so there were not loads of other stars there and it was just a fun night." The bash eventually finished at just after 2am as guests piled out to get into waiting taxis. Playing with kittens
Atomic Kitten only granted four interviews during their brief stay at the Twenty20 final. They were with Sky, the BBC, Channel 4 and, rather, bizarrely . . . me. Ironically the crowd watching ‘The Kittens’ was reminiscent of a county game; sparse and pretty apathetic. In the words of John Bracewell: “Twenty20 didn’t need Atomic Kitten. The cricket is intense enough. It’s been a great spectacle.” Anyway, due to a certain amount of persistence and their good-humoured minder — actually a rhinoceros in man fancy dress, I was allowed an exclusive interview in their dressing room. Sure, I was worried they would take advantage of me, but these are the risks a reporter has to take for the big scoop. So there we were. The kittens and me, sitting in a semi-circle. And it was at about that moment that I realised I didn’t actually have anything to ask them. We could almost have been different species. Me, increasingly potato-shaped, and them, their cumulative weight about the same as my lunch. It was a hot day and I was playing the pheromone card pretty strong. They, meanwhile, just played hard to get. Very hard. Yet there was, undeniably, a chemistry. Sadly I’m not terribly au fait with their work (though I’m told they are huge fans of my cricket reports) so the conversation was a bit limited. Liz knew what a googly was and claimed she regularly went to watch club cricket in Hale where her little brother plays. Jen said that cricket was becoming “glamorous” and that she was supporting Surrey, while Tash (short for Natasha; no-one calls her ‘Mousse’ she told me) was the prettiest. For what it’s worth they are planning a duet with the reggae singer Shaggy on their new album. Even Tash didn’t know that. A “world exclusive” they told me, though they may have been teasing. You never can tell with the Kittens. Should Graham Thorpe have been recalled by England? I asked, in desperation. “Yes,” shouted one. “No,” said another while the third looked confused. Fearing a dispute that could split the band, I moved on swiftly. I didn’t want to be the Yoko Ono of the Kittens. Reports that they have been converted to cricket have been greatly exaggerated. They were ambivalent about the result, and were to disappear to a gig at Silverstone long before the end. “A game of cricket is very much like making love to a beautiful woman,” I explained. “First you must remove the covers . . .” They did not laugh at my bold attempts to be humorous. As we bid our farewells, in a moment reminiscent of the last scene of Casablanca (I was Bogart, they were Bergman and their tour manager was the Nazi who deserved shooting) there were damp eyes all round. Liz pretended she had hayfever, but I think we all knew better. People have asked me if our relationship will endure the celebrity status: the exotic travel, the crowds, the high-profile. And apparently they have jobs too. It’ll be tough. “See you soon,” Liz called as I left, an invitation, surely, to exchange phone numbers. I left my card. BT assures me my line is working fine, but the phone hasn’t rung yet . . . Kitten Natasha has a boob job (from www.thesun.co.uk)
