MORE INFO
The Backstreet Boys first started when AJ, Howie and Nick met constantly at auditions and talent competitions. From then on, they sang together and met whenever they had the same auditions. The three of them formed a little trio and signed with a company called TransContinental with a guy named Lou Pearlman. They decided to take it to the next level and added two more members, Kevin and Brian. They met Kevin at the time when he was working at Orlando's Disneyworld. Kevin, then called his cousin, Brian, to be the fifth member of the Backstreet Boys. To finish it off, they signed with Jive Records and managers, Donna and Johnny Wright.
The Backstreet Boys are recording their next album this fall, which may be called, "Backstreet Paradise". They have already put out two albums: Backstreet Boys-Backstreet Boys, which had the top hits, "I'll Never Break Your Heart", "Quit Playing Games (With my Heart)", and the European hit, "Let's Have a Party", and Backstreet Boys-Backstreet's Back, with the number one hit, "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", "As Long As You Love Me", "All I Have to Give", written by Full Force, and so much more.
The Backstreet Boys have received Diamond award for their CD, entitled, Backstreet Boys, in Canada, and multi-platinum in other countries around the world. They have also won the Smash Hits Award and Select Award for MTV Europe for two consecutive years! They beat the Spice Girls, Oasis and Jamiroquai and Boyzone. Recently, the Boys performed at the MTV Music Awards and won the award for Best Dance Video of the Year.
How did they get their name, 'Backstreet Boys'? The guys named the group after a popular open-air shoppers' paradise, the Backstreet Market.
The boys have ended their first European tour and their North American tour. They are returning to Europe again because they say that their UK fans are wild and loyal. They were the first ones to bring the Backstreet Boys into fame. They love to travel in the States because they were able to spend more time with their family than traveling elsewhere in the world. And last, but not least, they love their Canadian fans because we brought them to their DIAMOND platinum record (especially Montreal!).
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This spring, just before the tour, Brian Littrell went through elective surgery for his heart. (When Brian was five, he skinned his knee and it infected. He was born with a hole in his heart and the infection spreaded to his weak spot: his heart. Brian almost lost his life and had to stay in the hospital for months.)
