The Homeless

As I walk,
These urine-drenched pathways,
With a vision,
Of beggars roaming this place,
I heaved a sigh,
As my mind wanders in a haze,
Oh! Why them?
Why do they have to live astray?

Wrinkled faces,
Grievous smiles that tell us stories,
Of empty souls,
Where hearts are hollow and lonely,
Of weary eyes,
That gaze at the sky mindlessly,
Oh! Why this?
Why do those cheekbones weep sadly?

Shabby clothes,
Their fragile bodies shivering,
In the cold,
Of the chilling winter brings,
Chattering away,
In the icy night that stings,
Oh! Why that?
Why are there all these sufferings?

A lighted match,
Warms up their nights of bitterness,
A caring heart,
Fills up their dreary emptiness,
A helpful hand,
Will ease their ails and painfulness,
Oh! Reach out!!
To those people who are homeless.
