I made this page so I don't have to repeat my story with all the details 100 times. I would tell the world, but I just don't have time, so now they can just read it. =)
On January 18th, my dad, my friends Coni and Katie, and myself drove to Sanford to watch the US Women's National Team practice. It was a beautiful day. We got there around 9:30. We pulled up and saw 2 players, possibly Tiffeny Roberts and maybe Lorrie Fair. We were like oh wow. Then I was glancing around and saw someone coming out from the side of the building. It was Mia Hamm!!! I started silently "screaming" and pulling on my friends' shirts. I was like "LOOK it's Mia!" They were like "Where?" I showed them and they almost started really screaming. I told them to calm down. She stared at us for a sec and walked on out to the field. We went inside the building and coming down the hallway was Tiffeny Milbrett and 2 other players who I wasn't looking at. (Sorry, but I was saying hi to Tiffeny.) Tiffeny said, "Hey guys!" We said hello, and got all jumpy. She looked back and smiled. We HAD to go to the bathroom, so while one of us "went", the other 2 watched the hallway. There was a German club training there also. Bauer Leuk...something.
We hurried back outside and saw Briana Scurry and another keeper. We asked her if we could possibly follow them out to their practice. She said sure. So we walked behind them out to the fields. We saw Julie Foudy behind us with a couple others. We saw Tracy Ducar and asked her where we could sit and watch. She said they set up bleachers for us to sit in. I saw 1 set of bleachers where all the players were putting on their stuff. Then I looked around and saw another set off to the side behind a small orange "fence like" netting. Hey, I was happy we could sit there.
We put our stuff down and looked for everyone. The only thing was that there was no everyone. It was just us! I held up my sign that said "Hi TiffEny" on it. (The E was in blue because there are 2 Tiff's, Milbrett and Roberts.) She and Michelle Akers were staring at it for a sec, then she (Tiffeny) waved both of her arms so I knew she had seen it. I waved back and took some pictures. The practice wasn't too exciting. We kept wanting to run and shag the balls, but we decided that that might not be a good idea.
After practice we saw Tiffeny getting up to leave. We started walking and she said to hurry because she and Bri had to leave. We ran over and we talked and took pictures. I gave her something I made for her and she had to go.
We got back to the building and went inside. We sat in the lobby and waited. We saw a door that said US Women's National Team and we tried to get a peek in whenever it opened. Soon after Lorrie Fair came out and asked if she could sit with us. If she could sit with us??? Sheesh, we asked her if we could get her anything, coffee? soda? She said she was fine. We talked with her for almost 20 minutes which was very cool! A little later Tiffeny came out ready to go to her NIKE appearance. She said bye and thanked us again for coming out and she hopes that we'd get to see some more games. Some more of the players came out a couple at a time. We got their autographs and sat back down. We got Shannon and Joy's autographs. Then Danielle Fotopolous came out. I asked for her autograph and Lorrie said I didn't want it. I said, "Yeah I do, she's a mighty Gator!" Everyone started laughing, and Danielle smiled. She told me to say hi to Lisa (our keeper) for her. Then Cindy Parlow and Michelle French came out and signed my WWC shirt too. Pretty soon Kate Sobrero and I think Sara Whalen came in from the field. We didn't even have to ask. They came right up to us and asked if we wanted them to sign our shirts. I said Yeah, thanks. Tiffany Roberts came out and told Lorrie Fair she was leaving. And they left.
We hung around for a bit to see if Mia would be coming out. We checked outside and saw that Michelle's truck was gone and they had probably left. Oh well. We were getting into the car and my dad asked who was over there sunbathing. I was like "Where?" He pointed to the side of the building. It turned out to be Kristine Lilly. I got out of the car and ran over and asked her to sign my shirt and she did. I told her goodluck and she said thanks for coming out to watch. and that was it. We got in the car and went home. Lots of fun for everyone!!! I'll never forget it!
