| CHRISTY CHUNG LAI TAI WILL NOT FEEL AWKWARD WORKING WITH AARON KWOK FU SING | |||||
(SING SING, MING PAO DAILY, 6/18/1999) Christy Chung Lai Tai just returned from America where she met with Peter Chan Ho Sun and Stanley Tong Kwai Lai. When asked if Tong Kwai Lai has asked her to star in NGOK FEI, Chung Lai Tai expressed that negotiation is only in its initial stages and nothing is confirmed yet. If she stars in NGOK FEI, would she feel awkward working with Aaron Kwok Fu Sing (they were an item once)? Chung Lai Tai said she would not feel awkward working with anyone and she believed that collaboration would be well done. Though she appeared Westernized and NGOK is a costume film, she has starred in two costume films in the past, TAI CHI 2 and BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR 2 so that should not be difficult for her. Chung Lai Tai has a few movies in negotiation currently both in Hong Kong and America. She did not eliminate the possibility of Hollywood becoming her development base. | |||||

(6/19/1999) Japanese star Takuya Kimura (Muk Chuen Tok Joi) days ago came to Hong Kong for a costume fitting for Wong Kar Wai's new film 2046 and became the target of the press.
On the set, security was tight as several film company employees were on site to keep the press out. When Faye Wong and Tony Leung Chiu Wai entered the site they too avoided the cameras. According to the film company's promotional personnel, Tony Leung Chiu Wai will play Robocop, Carina Lau Ka Ling will play Madame Butterfly, Faye Wong will play Queen of 1,000 Years, Muk Chuen will play Darth Vader and Chang Chen will play his younger self. The director cast Chang Chen in that role because he felt they look similar. All three will have even screen time. After the costume fitting with Muk Chuen, the director was very satisfied.
(APPLE DAILY 6/21/1999) Takuya Kimura performed a 3 minute long solo scene for his screen test. Besides him, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Chang Chen, and Faye Wong also performed similar tests using his or her most native language. Ka Ling used Suzhounese, Muk Chuen used Japanese and Faye Wong used Mandarin.
Meanwhile, in Muk Chuen's interview in the latest issue of JUNON, Muk Chuen claimed that Wong Kar Wai's film would be a gamble because he had no idea what the script would be like.
(ORIENTAL DAILY 6/23/1999) The cast of the Wong Kar Wai directed 2046 would soon grow bigger, as the film is currently in negotiation with two foreign stars. Reportedly Iceland Queen Bjork has a great chance of joining the cast to play a couple with Tony Leung Chiu Wai's Robocop, battle the movie's other couple Takuya Kimura (Muk Chuen Tok Joi) and Faye Wong, and further make 2046 more international.
Since the public has always thought that Faye Wong's image is very similar to that of Bjork, Wong Kar Wai out of curiosity approached Bjork about the movie.
Bjork in the movie would play a robotic barkeeper named Happy Hour that can see the past and future. She is an informant for Leung Chiu Wai's Robocop. Whenever Wa Jai runs into something unpleasant he would talk to her and thus a romance begins between the two.
Meanwhile, the cast might have landed another Hong Kong superstar who so far is only known by the last name Cheung. Supposedly Cheung has previously worked with Wong Kar Wai. Upon research, the possibilities are Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, Maggie Cheung Man Yuk and Jacky Cheung Hok Yau.
Since Cheung Hok Yau has to prepare for his concert tour overseas and Cheung Kwok Wing has to prepare for his directorial debut, the only one who would have time for the movie would be Cheung Man Yuk who currently is working on Wong Kar Wai's FA YEUNG NIN WA (FLOWER LIKE YEARS).

(6/19/1999) Hsu Chi has already confirmed to star in Johnnie To Kei Fung's new movie CHUNG MO YIM as Ha Ying Chun. As for lead role Chung Mo Yim, no one has been confirmed yet. To Kei Fung expressed, originally he wanted to cast Sammi Cheng Sau Man as Chung Mo Yim, but her schedule would not allow it, thus he has planned to cast another Sky Queen level talent who is also suitable to play costume roles. However he declined to reveal who she is. The press is guessing Anita Mui Yim Fong, Faye Wong, Gigi Leung Wing Kei or Kelly Chan Wai Lam would land the role. The film would begin production in November in China. Hsu Chi's manager Manfred Wong (Man Jun) stated that Hsu Chi has accepted a beer commercial. For the remainder of the year Hsu Chi has quite a few ads on her hands as well. Currently she is working on a television series in Shanghai and would return to Hong Kong in July, then she would begin work on James Yuen Sai Sun's new film NGOR TIU NUI HAI 007 (My Girl is 007), co-starring Tony Leung Ka Fai and Tin Sum. | |||||
