(NGAI YAU FONG, MING PAO DAILY, APRIL 5 2003) : In order to interview all of the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor nominees, Mrs. Chan (Chan Suk Fun) was asked to contact Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing to talk about how he felt.No one expected that this interview would become his last interview and INNER SENSES (YI DOH HUNG GAN) will be Gor Gor's final film in which Gor Gor is nominated for the Best Actor award. The interview : Q : Since recently he has not made many public appearances, would he attend the event that day? A: Gor Gor said, "I have always been a supporter of Hong Kong Film. This year if I am not overseas, I definitely will attend."
(Gor Gor indeed loved movies, thus in past years he
would dress up to attend the Hong Kong Film Award in support of this film
event.
Q :"This year out of the five nominees including yourself, who do
you think will win?"
A : Gor Gor said, "Out of the five people, we all have won except
(Leon) Lai Ming. However I am very certain that no matter who wins, we
will be just as happy." Gor Gor even felt that as long as movies
are sincere, viewers will definitely de willing to buy tickets to
enjoy them.

Gor Gor asked Chan Suk Fun (right) to take care of (center picture) Tong Hok Tak .Chan Suk Fun has lost a respected and intimate friend professionals and a friend she could talk to personally. She also witnessed the aftermath of her friend's suicide. "I really thank everyone's messages and consolation, but I don't know what to say. As long as I mention it, I lose control......" Chan Suk Fun and Gor Gor have known each other for 20 years and are like a pair of mother and son.
Kenny Bee : What he says about Leslie death
Leslie is one of my few close friends in the business. We have known each other as early as the Polygram days. Back then I already felt Leslie was very stylish, but because he was too ahead of his time, he had to struggle and switch to Capital Artists to become a star. Leslie and I are not the type that see each other night and day and complain to each other, with him a lot of times we just know what the other is thinking and do not need to say much.
When we see each other we are very happy, during a meal we can talk about any and everything. He knew about food, wine and fashion. He was very tasteful and we clicked. He even had a barrel of dirty jokes, but all of them are category III and cannot be broadcast. I can only say he was very funny, very direct. I remember three years ago. As everyone knows, Alan and I are good friends, at the same time Leslie and I are good friends.
When Universal got them together to sing a duet for the first time on WAN YING, MUNG JI LUEN (MYSTERIOUS SHADOW, LOVE OF FOG), the record company was afraid that these two big brothers will get into a fight when they recorded and asked me to produce this song. Before recording record executives all stood still and were afraid that they would argue. I also expected to be the referee, but the two of them could not have been friendlier. The session completed very quickly. Perfectionist Leslie for better effect even sang a verse again.
Today, I am sad just like you. The feeling cannot be described in just a few words. I was lucky that when he left I was not in Hong Kong. Otherwise I will be like others and cry all day and night. Someone asked me if I knew why he committed suicide? I do not know or understand. He had everything, all of his friends loved him, he was handsome. He was 40 something but looked 30. To say he was possessed? That's better because that is inexplicable. However no matter what happened a resolution could be found! Why not talk to friends and figure it out? Although it happened already, I respect his decision but I am also very mad at his decision. Life is valuable, and does not completely belong to you alone. It also belonged to your family, friends, and even more your fans. Leaving just like that, how can we accept that!

Only God knows how sad she was when she was told the news of Gor Gor's death. She had now lost 2 dear friends : Danny Chan and Gor Gor, both who started their career together with Anita.Gor Gor and Anita had worked together on countless accounts : They sing together on stage for various shows and award presentations , worked together on few movies, and she even acted in a MTV directed by Leslie himself. (4/7/2003) Originally Anita Mui Yim Fong insisted on attended the Hong Kong Film Award as usual to present the Best New Performer award, but she wanted to avoid creating a scene and she has not fully recovered emotionally from Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. Ah Mui decided not to attend in the last minute.
