The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF), founded in 1967, is a place where heroes and thier memories live forever. No other state can match
the number of great sports legends that have ties to this state, either through birth or performance. So what could be more exiting to students than learning basic skills in a fun enviroment away from the classroom?
A visit to ASHOF wiil be an unforgettable learning experience for students. Biographies of sports legends inscribed on bronze plaques
and signs are perfect for reading comprehension. Numbers are everywhere- everything from pass completion percentges to batting averages. Students will have so much fun using the interactive kiosks throughout the ASHOF, they wont even realize they are using research skills. Many of the events
and dates associated with the athletes at the ASHOF coincide with the most significant moments in history.

The ASHOF outreach program field trip is a unique way to teach students our states rich, colorful history. Being exposed to the accomplishments of various sports heroes motivates students to set the highest possible goals in life.
Students learn that achieving their dreams is possible and that nothing should stand in their way- not age, race, background or handicap. Exposing children to positive
role models who make lasting impressions is vital to the future of todays youth. That's why Richard M. Scrushy, chairman of the board and CEO of HealthSouth Corporation, generously created the ASHOF Outreach Program to expose students
to a wealth of knowledge about Alabama's sports heritage. Transportation to and from the museum, as well as admission, are !
