The cost of engraving is hard to quote without seeing the piece and discussing it with the client. There are many factors to be considered, such as the amount of coverage, hardness of the piece to be engraved, whether the engraving is high relief or flush, and shipping and insurance costs. I usually try to keep my prices a little bit under my competition.

The best way to have a piece engraved is to ask yourself, "How much do I want to spend?" The average knife can be lightly engraved for $50 or fully engraved in high relief with an animal sculptured for $500.

As for firearms, the cost of engraving starts at $265 for minimal coverage up to whatever the customer wants to spend. The following is an overall AVERAGE engraving cost:

  • Small folders - $135 to $185
  • Large Folders - $165 to $385
  • Bowies - $265 to $385
  • Handguns - $265 to $685
  • Long Guns - $365 to $785

These are average costs. I have also done weapons with high relief and gold inlays for several thousand dollars, so the possibilities are limitless.
