Yes, that is a Rufous Hummingbird sitting on an ice covered limb!
The photo above was taken by chapter member Caila Lamont. Caila and her husband live in a subdivision in the city of Cullman where they have developed quite an oasis for birds. In the winter of 1998, their yard was graced by the visit of a Rufous Hummingbird. It stayed for several days, and weathered the Christmas Eve icestorm which plagued North Alabama that year.
