To make an actual Peace Trail will require Billions of dollars and world wide International support. It is not the sort of thing an individual could do alone. However, an individual can have the idea for a Peace Trail and share that idea with the world. That is what we are doing here. The goals of this site are two-fold and can be broken down into three phases.
Goals:
1.) To create an officially designated International Peace Trail along the corridor described in the Trail Description.
2.) To promote the idea of the Peace Trail by presenting a webcast document of an actual thru-hike of the Peace Trail by our Field Correspondent, Dug Fresh
Phases:
1.)Phase one:Presentation
Here the ideas behind the IPT, and what we think it has to offer the world, are presented. Here is where we seek to find grassroots support for the project that we may continue to work towards the Trail's official designation.
2.)Phase Two: Promotion
This phase will coincide with a Webcast documented account of an actual thru-hike of the International Peace Trail. The intent of the thru-hike is to further the International support necessary to begin the development of the IPT.
3.)Phase Three: Designation
This final phase will result in the completion of the International Peace trail and its official designation.
We are seeking sponsors willing to donate the funds necessary to begin phase two. If you are interested or would like more information please feel free to email us.
2.) Equipment/Gear
There is a long list of items we will need before we can begin. To name just a few, we need a high end digital video camera, a Laptop and a portable multipurpose handheld computer capable of running on various electrical currents around the world .
What we would ideally like to have is a team, perhaps three or four people, one or two who can manage the thru-hike from remote locations and route resupply points and gear changes between towns and one or two extra people willing to participate in the journey itself.
Also, if we cannot broadcast live from the Trail, there is the problem of getting it to the web in a timely manner. Uploading multimedia files to the web, then, will have to be done in Trail Towns along the way. This would mean the journey could not be documented live, as we would like, but would instead be posted as installments.
3.) Re-supply points
This won't be too much of a problem near civilization. However, as much of the IPT is not near civilization, re-supply points remain a technical problem. One solution is air drops. Another is to have a Road Crew operating a Mobile Command Post. This may also be the solution to providing live coverage.
4.) Borders
We do not know how certain Countries, or the people within them, may feel about an International Peace Trail. While corporations and commerce have long been multi-national, people still feel very strongly about their borders and even today many wars rage about them. One of the goals of the IPT Project is to support World Peace through the development of an International Trail which transcends national and regional Boundaries. It is thought that world wide support for such a project could only help to produce such Peace.
5.) Dangers
In several areas, Alaska for instance, it may be necessary to carry a gun. In many cases, it will be prudent to have professional tourguides and Sherpas as well.
