ESSAYS
WRITTEN by OSCAR ZELAYA

This is a noir essay I wrote. It is an analysis and comparison of the 1947 original release and the 1994 remake of the noir film Kiss of Death. The analysis will include the application of Lacan's theory of the "symbolic" and the "real" in conjunction with the noir elements of both films. The comparison will conclude that the 1994 remake connotes more elements of the "real" and displays them in a way where the viewer is forced to see them through hyperreality.
