Ok, babies: at this minute, I have five weaning
lovebirds; two normal fischers' and three w/f aussies,
( slate or maybe jades, its too soon to tell which)
I have a pair of Orange Wings, but she is willing, he isn't ... and the Maxi
Pionus are also wanting to mate...  just not to each other... I think theyve
been drinking or something.  This is the second year this has happened, I
guess I am destined to have the only birds in the world who are
species-confused!  In the next month or so, I expect to have some Quaker
kids, theyre beginning to make a nest in their box now; last year they had
two clutches...

Interesting Facts from Bird Owners

When asked most bird owners say they keep the feathers that are either  plucked out or fall out naturally.

Most owners Sex thier birds ONLY when they intend on breeding . The unsexed birds are whatever
the proud human  parents whats it to be

When I asked Fellow Bird Parents the following questions This is what the recommend

When asked if an human parent had made arrangements for thier fids 60% said yes. 30 %
had not don'e it and 10%   said they did not want to think about it.
BUT the sad thing is you need to. They are like children. You need  to know they  are cared for
should you no longer be able to care for them. Make a WILL,  have a letter certified made ,
make sure that the person or place you choose is aware of this decision.  and you trust them ,
teach them if they have no idea  how to care for your baby. also, If you can start a trust fund
for  your critters  NOW. so that they are financial cared for as well, and

          1) Should I get a big bird or a small bird? keep in mind this is my first
one BUT Iike  think the macaws are adorable and I really want one BUT have No
clue what to do with them

Most recommend a smaller bird at first. Some say a Quaker is a good bird for a beginner and
Never buy a bird without knowing something about them, no matter how big
or small, or what color. Keep in mind Birds like the macaw and amazons live for 50 to 100 years.
You are for a long haul

2: Would you recommend a pet store or breeder to purchase a fid from?

90% say a breeder. Not only is the cost less BUT the Breeder has the background on the new hatchling

3: Should I get a rescued, Older or new baby?

Unless you have experience it is best to buy a baby. The older ones may be up for adoption for many
reasons and without the experience you might  not be able to handle it and end up placing it back
              for adoption

4: Should I get the bird now or read and then get one?

The best thing to do is read. Learn. Ask and Join support groups like this one to learn more
before to buy. That way you  are prepared a bit.  it is not like having a baby. where it come natural.
why? because we as humans do not have birds we have babies :)
