-THE CHOOSING-

As Ash woke up at 4:00AM, he was determined to be at Oak's Lab first in the morning to choose his Pokemon as he was going to be a Pokemon Master. At the age of 12, kids can get a Pokemon trainer's license to become a Pokemon Breeder or a Master. When Ash got to Oak's Lab he met up with his long time friend and rival, Gary. Gary had been his rival ever since the age of 4, but in the second grade he had become mean, that was the ending of their friendship.

As Oak opened the gates Ash and Gary rushed into the lab. "Here on the table are 6 Pokeballs, and you may each choose your likings!" As Ash looked at the Pokeballs he learned that there was a Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Pikachu, Pidgey, and a Caterpie. "There will be many Pidgeys to catch, some Caterpies, some Bulbasaur in forests, and a bit of Charmanders on routes to the gyms, a tiny bit of Pikachus, so which shall I choose?" Ash thought outloud.

As Gary made up his mind for a Charmander, Ash thought that Fire types are weak against Water so Ash shouted out, "I choose you, Squirtle!" Both rivals had there picks, but Gary wanted to prove that he himself was a better trainers than Ash. So they agreed to fight in Oak's PokeArena.

As they are ready Gary shouted, "Charmander, go!" Then Ash gave out his Pokemon, "Squirtle! Go!" Charmander had the first attack, "Charmander Ember, now!" The Fire started to flicker everywhere about to hit Squirtle. Then Ash shouted, "Squirtle, counter attack!" Squirtle then dodged the fire attack, "Water Gun!" the Water gun hit Charmander which made Charmander weaker as ever.

"What?!?! Charmander Fire Spin!" But it was too weak from the blast of Squirtle's Water Gun. Charmander then fainted. "Charmander! Return!" Gary was steaming hot when Ash grinned. "I just lost my grip that's all! I will go catch stronger Pokemon and beat you Ash!!!" Ash had won his very first battle. He then left to Viridian City to collect some badges and more Pokemon.
