After Buffy burned down the school gym, she and her mother, Joyce, moved to Sunnydale. Buffy never expected the vampires to follow her, but unbeknownst to her, she moved on top a hellmouth. She fights vampires and other demons while juggling school, her mom, and a demonic boyfriend. Her watcher is Rupert Giles and is a mentor to Buffy. He is the Sunnydale High librarian, and she and her best friends Willow and Xander hang there and do research. Buffy's parents got divorced shortly after Buffy learned that she was the slayer. Her mom only recently found out that she was a vampire slayer, and now Buffy has to handle her as well as Angel.

Buffy has an interesting boyfriend. Angel is a vampire, and she loves him. After killing a gypsy girl, Angel was restored his soul. And now he lives in Sunnydale and is dating the slayer. Opposites really do attract, huh? Shortly after Buffy's seventeenth birthday, she and Angel consumated their relationship by having sex. This brought up a clause in the curse put on Angel. He achieved a moment of true happiness, and lost his soul. So, for many months he tormented Buffy and killed Giles's girlfriend. When Angel tried to ressurect hell, Buffy had to kill him and send him there. As a result of this trauma, Buffy ran away for the summer to LA. When Buffy returned she encountered numerous problems with her mother and friends, but she couldn't tell them why she left. When Buffy finally decided to move on with her life and forget about Angel, he returned from hell. Now, Buffy is torn between what she wants and what she can't have.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is an acting veteran. At age four, she starred in a series of Burger King commercials. Throughout her childhood, she attended acting school and landed small roles in films and television. She played a Young Jackie Kennedy in her early teens. Then, when she was seventeen, she landed the role of Kendall Hart on All My Children. This role earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Sarah left All My Children in 1996. Soon after, she was hired for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As Buffy this season, Sarah really seems to be an Emmy contester with all of her amazing crying scenes. We are now seeing a different side of Buffy and Sarah executes this perfectly. She lives in LA and studies Tae Kwan Do and films movies when not working on Buffy. Her two most recent films, Cruel Intentions and Simply Irresistable are due in theaters in February.
