Giles is the librarian who watches over Buffy. That's his job, but he has many secrets and clauses to his librarian personality...

He has been preparing to be a watcher his whole life. His father was before him and so on. Now he has been assigned to watch the newest slayer, Buffy. She is a tough slayer to train, strong-willed and independent, but he handles her and grows to love her like a daughter. Though they have had many rough patches, all related to her relationship with Angel, he has continued to care for her genuinely. He is more than her watcher, but like a father to her. But Giles has his secrets. He used to toy with the black arts and went by the name "Ripper". That explains his ability to protect Buffy to the fullest degree.

Though they were complete oposites, they shared a special relationship that grew into love. She knew of computers and technology, and he prefered to read his books. But, somehow they connected. And he loves her still. Even after she was taken from him by the evil Angelus, he still thinks of her. This is where Giles comes to an emotional stop. He loves Jenny and despises Angel, but the young slayer whom he loves like a daughter, loves someone as well, Angel.

Okay, we must face it. He is the coffee guy. For many years, Anthony Stewart Head was one half of the neighborly pair who shared Taster's Choice Coffee. So, it seems hard to imagine that he has done other things in his career.
