Homecoming

Buffy and Cordelia go head to head for Homecoming Queen while Willow and Xander share an intimate moment.

The gang hangs at the Bronze and discusses Homecoming transportation. Buffy says she may not go and Scott comes up. Cordelia brings up his asking her to the dance and he stops beating around the bush and asks her. Of course, she says yes.

Buffy travels to the mansion to bring Angel some food and explain her relationship with Scott. Everything is different, she tells him, and she needs a solid guy. He is slightly wounded by it. Which leads into Scott breaking up with her the next day.

Buffy looks on solmnly as he walks away and is unaware that two men are video taping her and sending the signal to Mr. Trick and another weird computer dude.

We are finally introduced to the Sunnydale Mayor when a young man informs him of a pair of goons who have come into town. The Mayor expresses extreme touchyness over cleanliness; possible OCD scenario.

At school, the gang takes school pictures, except for Buffy, who is in the library training. They send Cordelia to fetch Buffy, but she gives that up to campaign for Homecoming Queen with some guys. So, Buffy misses pictures.

The next day, Buffy mopes at lunch because her favorite teacher doesn't remember her. They inform her that she misses pictures. They say Cordy was supposed to tell her, so Buffy approaches her in full confrontational mode. Cordelia challenges Buffy and she decides to run for Homecoming Queen.

Mr. Trick introduces slayerfest to a group of vampires each having paid to fight Buffy. Among them is the brother of the guy from Bad Eggs. Much funniness ensues between Trick and a spiny-headed looking guy.

Willow and Xander try on clothes for Homecoming and talk about old times. Willow puts on the perfect dress and Xander finishes putting on his tux. They come together, each in awe. They begin to dance...and stare in each others eyes, until they kiss. When they realize what they have done, they jump apart and blame it on the clothes.

Buffy seeks help on her Homecoming stagedy, and the group shies away. They attempt to explain that they are already helping Cordelia. They basically desert her in a major way and Xander explains that she's his girlfriend, etc.

So, Buffy goes into full campaign mode. She and Cordy parade around in cute dresses and suck u to the student population. At the same instance, the slayerfest bunch prepares for battle. Buffy and Willow make up because Willow feels mondo guilty and agrees to help.

Cordelia and Buffy go into serious argument mode: "This whole trying to be like me thing isn't funny.." Xander tries to break it up and Buffy calls her a "vapid whore". Willow and Xander try to find a way to bring everyone back together.

The limo comes to pick Buffy up and she finds Cordelia in there too. Cordy hands her a note. They have set them up to make up. The driver drives them to a secluded part of town and they realize they've been set up. They are alone in the woods and they see a tv that introduces "slayerfest". Buffy and Cordelia run off and seek shelter.

They find one of the hunter guys and trap him in a steel trap. He tells them who is following them and how many there are. They run until they find a cabin. Buffy goes into slayer mode while Cordelia whines and proclaims her love for Xander. The hunters close in on them while Buffy and Cordelia practically have a heart to heart. Cordelia starts to pity her slightly.

Spiny-headed guy busts in and the German guys shoot a grenade into the cabin. Cordy and Buffy escape and then the house blows up.

They rush to the library and find Giles knocked out and the gorge guy is there. Cordelia kills his wife and then Cordelia cusses out gorge gut and he gets scared and leaves. Buffy figures out that they've been tracking them through the corsages. The Germans enter the school and Buffy tricks them into shooting eachother.

Meanwhile, the mayor is dragged off to meet with the Mayor who approves of slayerfest. The Mayor says that Trick must be part of his team, and that if he obeys, they will get along.

Cordy and Buffy show up at the dance all messed up. They announce the Homecoming Queen.. it's a tie... between... two girls other that Buffy and Cordelia.

Review

***
This episode was funny. That's why I loved it. The Cordy/Buffy rivalry was perfect, and Mr. Trick and the spiny headed creature made the country guy seem even more annoying. Slayer Fest was a wacky idea, and it's too bad they didn't do more on it. Of course, I was really pissed at Xander for completely abandoning Buffy and then kissing Willow, but I still love him. Speaking of the kiss: How could he? Sure, she's loved him forever, I forgive her. But, Xander is dipping into every female on the show! Otherwise, this episode was fantastic. A very good choice for sweeps week. Oh, yea. I do not like Scott Hope!
