Never Kill a Boy on the First Date

Buffy fights a vamp in the graveyard and finally finishes it up with a catchy catch phrase. Giles steps out from a grave and repremands Buffy on her taking to much time on that stuff. But, before he can finish, he notices a ring on the ground where the ashes fell. He realizes that it wasn't a random vamp. Once again, he must consult his books.

The Master is preaching a bunch of vamps on the annointed one, who shall help kill the slayer. He proclaims that five shall die and from their ashes shall rise the annointed. The slayer shall not know him and he shall lead her into hell.

Buffy and Giles inspect the ring at the library when a very dollsome guy wanders in looking for Emily Dickinson poems. Flirting ensues and Buffy finds herself swooning. She goes on and on about how she loves books and loves to read. He leaves and they try to get on, but she's still stuck on Owen.

She goes to lunch with Willow and Xander and they discuss Owen. Buffy notices that Owen is sitting by himself and she goes over to sit with him; where Cordy bumps into her. Cordy commences flirting, but Owen ends up asking Buffy to the Bronze that night. Buffy says yes.

Buffy's fun is spoiled when Giles informs her that the annointed will rise that night. She whines and complains because she wants to be with Owen. But, he tells her she has to patrol. So, they wait at the graveyard until Giles decides that no vamps will be rising. She runs off to the Bronze to find Owen. But, when she gets there she sees Cordelia and Owen dancing in a major way. So, she leaves.

Meanwhile, a passenger bus rides outside Sunnydale with five passengers. The bus includes a huge guy who keeps spurring out quotes about judgement day and a child. A vamp stands in front of the bus and the driver swerves to miss him. They crash on the side of the road. The driver goes out to inspect and the vamp kills him. Then , the vamp attacks the bus and kills everone.

The next day at school, Buffy explains her woes to Xander, but he doesn't help much. She sees him at Xander's locker. They begin to talk and she makes up some excuse about not having any clocks. He asks her out again and lends her his expensive pocket watch. She asks him about Cordelia and he says that she got all over him. But, she agrees to go out with him.

Before her date, Buffy asks Willow and Xander to help her pick her outfit and such. Xander is of no help, of course. The bell rings and it's Giles. He tells her that a van accident involved five people. One of them was a suspected murderer and that it is possible that he might be the annointed one. Owen shows up at about the same time. Buffy and Owen go off and Giles goes to the funeral home.

At the Bronze, Owen and Buffy talk about poetry. They begin to dance and Cordelia comes up and he rejects her. Feeling brutally rebuffed, she goes off in the corner.

Giles arrives at the funeral home and senses that he's not alone. He turns around and is cornered by vamps. He makes a run for it and escapes into the funeral home. He runs through it until he finds a room to hide in. He locks the door in the room where they keep the dead bodies. He goes to the window and Xander and Willow are there. He tells them to find her. They run off while Giles is left with the vamps pounding at the door.

Cordelia bitches in the corner and sees Angel walk in. She likes what she sees, but he goes over to Buffy. He warns her that there is a prophecy and she should be out fighting. Owen comes up and she introduces him to Angel. Xander and Willow run up and tell Buffy that they should double date at the funeral home. Angel broods to the side while Buffy and Owen decide to go to the funeral home.

Buffy, Willow, and Xander rush inside of the funeral home, the vamps being gone. Owen, having followed them, pops up. Xander and Willow take over Owen patrol while Buffy looks for Giles. She finds the morgue room with the door burst open. Giles pops out of a dead body closet and tells her that they have to find the annointed one. Buffy takes them into an office and basically locks them in while she goes off looking for the annointed's body.

While Willow and Xander block the door, Owen finds a curtain and opens it. There they see the annointed ones body. They're creeped out until he begins to wake up. Then the creepiness really begins. The annointed one in vamp form stands before them and breaks the glass. They fight to un-baracade the door. When they do, they finally run out and tell Buffy where he is. They try to escape, but vamps corner them in.

The annointed finds Buffy and Giles in the mourge and they begin to battle. Owen charges in and tries to play hero, but gets knocked out. Buffy thinks he killed Owen and she and Giles push him into the incinerator. Owen gets up and he tells Buffy the date is over and he needs to walk home.

Buffy thinks she ruined everything, but the next day, Owen tells her that he would love to be with her. But, he seeks the adventure and thrill, not really her. She doesn't want to endanger him, so she turns him down for all time. Giles tries to console her and tells her about how he didn't want to be a watcher. Basically, everyone learns a grand lesson about life.

Though they believe that the annointed thing is over, it is not so. The Master is underground with the annointed one... a child.
