Track Team, part two

"So how was the unexpected date?" Willow asked innocently. It was one of her

more redeeming qualities, given the fact that she fought so little.

"It wasn't a date. It was... slaying a vampire and comparing battle scars."

Buffy explained. Oz had walked in and heard all of Buffy's sentence.

"Oh, cool, a Slayer's date." He commented. Buffy had easily fought back the

urge to punch him in the mouth for that comment. "What's his name, or was it

one of those freaky no name demons?"

"Yes Oz, he had a name. In case you need to know, it's Jeremy Halliwell.

He's... standing right behind you." Oz spun around and saw the person Buffy had

been describing.

"I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're Oz. I'd be a little concerned if

you weren't."

"You're not the only one." Oz replied.

"Hello!" Willow beamed. Jeremy pretended to put on a pair of sunglasses. "Umm,

just so I can sleep easier tonight, you're not a vampire are you?" Jeremy just

smiled and entered the library without invitation.

"I also do birthday parties." He quipped after he bowed.

"You know, as fun as all of this is" Buffy said "you never did get around to

explaining who or what Track is."

"An ascended vampire who killed my girlfriend." Jeremy replied instantly. "I'd

like to say I'm over it, but I still want his head as a trophy." The calmness

in his voice was very unsettling.

"I think that's fair." Oz muttered.

"The good news is that I'm past that stage where you don't shower or shave or

play practical jokes on stuck-up Watchers... what?" Jeremy asked innocently.

"You mean you don't?"

"The thought never really occurred to us." Buffy explained. "Although sometimes

I wish it had." she muttered, thinking about Wesley.
