Spike and Dru congregate at the factory and Dru reads the cards in order to figure out how to regain her strength. All of a sudden, she sees an answer. They must find a decoder for the book that holds the secrets.
Buffy patrols the cemetary and suddenly notices a ruckus in the Mosseleum. She goes to investigate and finds two of Spike's goons excavating something. They fight and Buffy kills one. But, the other gets away with the object. Buffy returns home to find Angel in her bedroom. She's playing depresso girl and they have a semi-sweet moment. She tells him about her huge obsession with Dorothy Hamel and ice skating. He promises her that he'll take her to a rink for a date.
The list of careers is posted and the gang gets the tragic news... Xander: prison guard Buffy: police officer Willow: none. Willow doesn't have an assignment, and that wigs her.
Buffy goes to the library to report and tells Giles about the Mosseleum robbery thing. He wigs. Once again, she goes attitude depresso over "I'm the only one... I hate my job" deal.
Spike and Dru have recovered the decoder and they work to read the secret text. They need to take care of the slayer, so Spike decides to do something about it. He decides to call the order of Taraka.
Willow heads down the hall and is approached by two official looking guys. They escort her to a "super top secret" meeting type thing. Her and another boy are told that they have been watched and semi-recruited for top secret computer work.
Giles and Buffy go out to the Mosseleum and discover the problem. An ancient cross decoder thing was taken. Meanwhile, the order of Taraka arrive. One creepy demon off a bus, and another marches into Buffy's neighborhood and kills her next the neighbor. Another mysterious person arrives in the cargo hold of a plane.
Buffy heads off to the skating rink and goes out on the ice before Angel gets there. She does a series of moves until the creepy demon attacks her. Just in time, Angel appears and saves the day, in full vamp face. He points out that dead demon guy has a super important ring thingy on. They do the touchy feely thing; where Buffy touches his face and she kisses him. Cargo girl watches from the shadows.
Buffy takes the ring to Giles and he informs her of the dismal situation. The order of Taraka is after her. There are many, all independent of each other; and their goal is to kill her. Before she can go super wiggy, she has to attend a seminar for law inforcement.
Buffy walks down the hall and is really creeped. She suddenly corners Oz and practically pummels him.
Instead of going home, Buffy goes to Angels for cover. The gang is worried about her and can't reach her at her house. Xander decides to check out the house. Meanwhile, Buffy goes to Angel's house and he's not there. She walks in and lies down.
Angel goes to Willies bar to find out some info on the order of Taraka. Willie has a bar that services vamps. Angel starts to hassle Willie and he admits that Spike sent the order. Cargo girl bursts in. She pummels Angel and locks him in a cage, so that he can wait for sunrise.
Giles finally figures out that Spike is trying to revive Dru. Meanwhile, Spike and Dru figure out the missing link: her sire.
Xander and Cordy head over to Buffy's and break in. Xander looks upstairs and Cordelia succeeds in letting worm guy aka: neighbor killer in because he's advertising free makeup.
Buffy wakes up and is immediately attacked by cargo girl. The go one on one. Buffy demands to know who she is. Cargo girl tells her she is Kendra, the Vampire Slayer.
