- On April 20, 1990, less than a year after being banished from baseball for his illegal gambling activities, all-time hit king Pete Rose pleads guilty to 2 felony counts of filing false income tax returns.

- On May 18, 1990, in a 7-0 loss to the Astros, Cubs 2B Ryne Sandberg finally commits an error. This ends his ML-record errorless streaks at 123 games and 584 chances. Joe Morgan held the previous record of 91 games.

- On May 29, 1990, Rickey Henderson steals his 893rd career base in Oakland's 2-1 loss to the Blue Jays, surpassing Ty Cobb as the AL's all-time leader. Lou Brock's mark of 938 is next.

- On June 9, 1990, Dodger Eddie Murray homers from each side of the plate for the 10th time in his career (the 2nd time in 1990) to tie Mickey Mantle's ML record. The Dodgers beat the Padres 5-4 in 11 innings.

- On June 11, 1990, Nolan Ryan pitches his unprecedented 6th career no-hitter, striking out 14 batters in a 5-0 win over the A's. He is the first to pitch a no-hitter for 3 different teams, and the first to throw a perfect in 3 different decades.

- On June 12, 1990, Orioles SS Cal Ripken plays in his 1,308th consecutive game to move past Everett Scott into 2nd place on the all-time list. Ripken will need to maintain his streak into 1995 to pass Lou Gehrig's mark of 2,130.

- On July 2, 1990, Nolan Ryan strikes out 7 batters in a 3-2 loss to the Red Sox. This gives him a record 22 seasons with at least 100 strikeouts. He had shared the record of 21 with Don Sutton.

- On July 19th, Pete Rose is sentenced to 5 months in prison and fined $50,000.

- On July 28, 1990, Cal Ripken's errorless streak ends at 95 consecutive games, as Baltimore loses to Kansas City 10-9. The streak is a new ML record for a SS, eclipsing Ken Elster's 89-game mark.

- On August 15, 1990, Mark McGwire hits a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the 10th to give Oakland a 6-2 win over Boston. He becomes the first player to hit 30 HRs in each of his first 4 seasons.

- On August 31, 1990, Ken Griffeys, Jr. and Sr., become the first father-and-son combination in ML history to play as teammates, and they each go 1-for-4 in Seattle's 5-2 win over the Royals, The Mariners had signed the elder Griffey after he was waived by the Reds last week.

- On September 14, 1990, Ken Griffey, Sr. and Jr., hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning of a Seattle 7-5 loss to California.

- On October 3, 1990, Cecil Fielder becomes the 11th player ever to hit 50 HRs when he belts his 50th and 51st in the Tigers' season finale, a 10-3 win over New York. He is the first AL player since 1961 to reach the 50 mark.


- Going into the season Rickey Henderson needed three bases at the start of the season to overtake Lou Brock as the greatest base thief in baseball history. It took nearly a month of the season due to a 15 day stint on the DL in April with a left calf strain but on his seventh attempt of the season he stole third base May 1st at the Coliseum vs. New York for career #939. That broke the tie with the Hall of Famer Brock. Tim Leary was on the mound and Matt Nokes behind the plate when Rickey stole the base with a 1-0 count on Canseco. Henderson went on to steal 58 bases to push his career total to 994

- The World Series: Playing at home in their enclosed Metrodome, the Twins won the first two games, but lost the next three games in the Braves' lair. Returning home, the Twins tied the Series with a 4-3 victory and nailed down the world title the next night on Series MVP Jack Morris' gritty ten-inning 1-0 victory.


- On June 15, 1992, Jeff Reardon breaks Rollie Fingers' career saves record with his three-hundredth and forty-second.

- On July 26, 1992, Nolan Ryan strikes out his one-hundredth batter of the season for a major league record twenty-third consecutive season.

- On July 27, 1992, the Houston Astros go on a road trip for twenty-six games while the Republican National Convention is being held in the Astrodome.

- Robin Yount on September 9, 1992, and George Brett on September 30, 1992, both collect their 3,000th career hit in the same month.

- On September 19, 1992, Barry Bonds joins the 30 / 30 club for the second time. Only players to accomplish it twice with him are his father Bobby, Ron Gant, Willie Mays and Howard Johnson.


- On May 27, 1993, Dale Murphy resigns from Major League baseball two home runs shy of 400.

- On July 7, 1993, Tom Browning leaves the dugout in Wrigley Field and goes to watch the game from the roof of the three-story building on Sheffield Avenue! He will later be fined $500 by major league baseball for his antics.

- On July 28, 1993, Ken Griffey, Jr. hits a home run in his eighth consecutive game tying the record held by Dale Long and Don Mattingly.

- On September 4, 1993, one-handed pitcher Jim Abbott throws a 4-0 no-hitter versus the Indians! On September 16, 1993, Dave Winfield gets career hit number 3,000.

- On September 7, 1993, Mark "Hard Hitten" Whiten accomplishes one of the rarest feats ever and earns the nickname on the same day when he blasts four home runs in the same game.

- On September 17, 1993, Texas Ranger super star Nolan Ryan strikes out Angel catcher Greg Meyers for his 5,714th and last career strikeout.
