An adaptor was fabricated to convert the second roller above the sound gate. The back plate of the
adaptor is made out of steel and is tapped for a new roller shaft. The back plate also has an offset bend so
the roller will be properly positioned. |
Adaptor painted gray and spring. The spring will keep the roller tight against the film. |
Original Holmes roller assembly. The two roller's above the sound gate are fixed. Slack in the film causes the film to ride up above the sprocket. Also, too much slack was causing the film to jump off the back edge of the roller before the sound gate. The amount of slack varies from film to film. |
Roller adaptor installed on original roller shaft allows roller after sprocket to move and be spring loaded. Spring loaded roller keeps film snug on sprocket and seated on roller before sound gate. |
