The original roller's were set very close to stop fire from passing, an old practice when running nitrate film. But thick splices will not pass through the close spaced roller's. A new roller was fabricated out of brass tubing and nylon spacers to replace one of the roller's. In the case of the feed roller's above, the fabricated roller does spin. |
Since the takeup only goes in one direction and always puts film pressure on the bottom roller only,
the fabricated top roller does not spin. |
