A spring loaded roller fabricated and added to the projector after the last sprocket that feeds the takeup reel. The roller absorbs the shock when the takeup reel starts and jerks on the film. |
The fabracated pieces for the spring loaded takeup roller. On the left is 1/4" steel stock with brass
tubing inserted as the main support bearing. The tubing is aligned and secured in place with Gorilla
super glue, then further secured using JB Weld to build a solid surface between the brass tubing and
the 1/4" square steel piece. A 6-32 threaded hole is used to screw in the roller shaft on the front side
and to secure a spring on the back side. |
( Extra roller shafts and roller's were available from modifications to roller's when reel magazines were removed )
The two pieces fitted together |
The roller screwed into place |
A brass washer press-fitted onto the arm shaft bearing and secured using JB weld. |
The arm is a brass on steel bearing and should not need oil or removal. But if necessary, the
silver nut is removed and then the bearing shaft can be unscrewed. |
One of the mounting screws has spacers covered with shrink tubing |
