Stunning Impact

The colour combination is striking - white, black and red. The sari motif is
Ikat and is characteristic of the designs from Orissa on the east coast of India off the Bay of Bengal. The sari is set off by a deep maroon embroidered lycra blouse, which is cut as a boat neck with three quarter sleeves, aspects which are both quite untraditional. The lower portion of the sari is of red cheese cotton, which makes the entire sari one-time wear. The drape is quite unconventional but is reminiscent of the Seedha Pallav a Gujarati style wherein the Pallu is brought straight up off the back, over one shoulder, and tucked at the waist in front.
