Manager Reports
After each match, managers are
asked to send in their reports. My comments are bold and italic.
Pre-Season Reports
Team: Scotch
Oakburn
Manager: Thomas Rose
Well, of course I expect Scotch Oakburn to win,
it is just by how much. With the likes of fast bowlers in Richard
Dutton and Tom Quin, Scotch look almost unbeatable in this
5-day-game competition.Although they lack a bit of depth, the
Scotch team have an array of superstars at the fore and they will
be shining lights in this season. All these players are real and
all these players are on my team at Scotch Oakburn. They are
great guys and they deserve to win, so, if you can, show up at
the ground and give them some support (not that they need
it).Well, it looks like a battle for second place, because Scotch
Oakburn
will lead all the way!
A very confident manager at Scotch Oakburn seems to have it all under control at the moment. We'll have to wait and see whether his confidence proves to be valuable enough for him to win the league.
Team: County
Selects XI
Manager: Rob Myers
As the new season approaches, the hopes are high in the County
SelectsXI training ground. Manager Rob Myers and his captain and
wicket keeperAlec Stewart will be looking towards Graham Thorpe
and Graeme Hick for solid middle order batting while hopes are
high that Mike Atherton and Nick Knight can form a steady
partnership at the top of the order. The bowling duties will fall
heavily on the fast bowling pair of Waqar Younis and Alan Donald.
Also Robert Croft and/or Ian Salisbury will be called upon to
work the spinning magic. Despite the fact that the players
mentioned above are important to the County Selects XI a lot will
depend on the performances of brothers Adam and Ben Hollioake.
Manager Myers will look to them to provide good scores with the
bat and wickets with the ball. Hopefully, by the end of the
season the County Selects XI will be on top of the table lifting
the championship silverware.
It looks as though County Selects XI have a very strong side, and will be hard to beat right throughout the season.
Team: West Australia
Manager: Scott
McGinnis
Well I hope this season goes well and we
(my team) will do the best thing possible, be competitive. For
this to happen we will need big seasons with the bat from
J.Langer,R.Campbell, M.Hussey, D.Martyn and T.Moody. Some players
who need to shine with the ball are B.Julian, J.Angel, S.Cary,
M.Nicholson, S.McGinnis, B.Oldroyd and T.Moody. I have other
players who will chip in from time to time with the bat (such as
A.Gilchrist) and the ball (D.Martyn). They are looking very good
at
their training ground and I hope I can give this team the success
they deserve.
West Australia have been prepared very well by their manager this season.
Manager: Matthew
Evans
Team: Condover Cricket Club
This is a team based on my local village side, and I expect
them to do well in my debut season. I do not feel we are a
championship winning side, but we will be challenging when it
comes to silverware. With the likes of myself and D. Bevan
opening the innings, and a solid middle order of S.Barker and
P.Reynolds, the batting line-up looks strong. We have a
mainly pace attack, based around M.Haffenden, with D.Pugh and
J.Furniss backing up well. With 2 types of spinner as well,
we have a well balanced attack. We have no superb
individuals, but we have a solid team, which will provide a
fight.
Another well balanced team with many unknown faces. This factor could be enough to see them winning their early games and challenging in the finals.
Team: NewZealand Kiwis
Manager: Geoffrey Balasoglou
The New Zealand Kiwis are looking forward to a good season
with the likes of Geoffrey Balasoglou the manager and top player
with a outstanding batting average of 54. One of the best bowlers
with an average of 28 and a superb fielder with 9.
Brian Rover is a talented batter and Chris Harris is an
impeccable fielder. Watch out for Jack Backster's speed and
Bassura Webber's great spin. The New Zealand Kiwis are a made up
team and only a few are real names. They are based in New Zealand
and will challenge even the toughest teams. The team even have
their own logo which they wear on the cricket shirts with pride.
The first team to provide a logo, the Kiwis sound like a very tight nit and dedicated unit. These features should hold them in good stead throughout the league.
Team: World All
Stars
Manager: Adam Every
I expect the World all stars to do well because of the strong
batting line up including the Openers Daniel Hastings and Sanath
Jayasuria and the Middle order batsman Mark Hill and Leigh
Longrigg. With these batsman I am expecting some big scores. Our
batting is well backed up with our exciting bowling attack, With
openers Adam Every and Shaun Pollock destroying the opposition
early and Shane Warne and Anil Kumble finishing off the job, our
bowling looks very promising! I expect a lot
of people to turn up to our first game at Loidfretwenstonal Oval
supporting our team to it's first win.
A large range of unknown and exciting cricketers make
up the World All Stars team. They look like a good all round side
and should take some beating.
Team: DAN'S world
XI
Manager: Daniel Hastings
I am hoping for a good season because I believe I have a well
belanceside with some outstanding individuals, in the batting I
hoping for Daniel Hastings and Darren Lehmann to knock up some
big scores, then hopefully it will be followed up with some super
bowling from Glenn McGrath and Adam Every with Shane Warne and
Shaun Pollock to clean up the tail and if needed some handy part
time bowlers. I am also hopingfor some good support as our new
stadium has just been finished and should hold up to 100,000
people.
Another team with good all round skills. They should progress well throughout the league.
