Came before me Simeon Ashley, County Court Clerk in and for the county in the state aforesaid, the same being a Court of record, Sarah Jane Myers, widow of Robert S. Myers, deceased, who was a private in Co. E. 1st Regt Ala. Vidette. Cavalry, in the service of the U.S. in the late war of rebellion with the Southern States, Whom I certify to be respectable and is worthy of full faith and credit upon her oath, and made oath in due form of law.  That she  is still the widow of Robert S. Myers, Deceased.  And that she is the identical Sarah Jane Myers, who applied for a pension.  On account of the injuries received by her husband while in line of duty at Stevenson in the State of Alabama.  On the day and year mentioned and sworn to by three (3) of his comrades, all of which ought to be before Your Honor, as the same was mailed to you from Manchester, Tennessee, which is referred to for dates of the disease contracted, as well as the different affidavits of the family Physician, Doctor Thomas P. Stevenson, as to his views of his treatment as well as the dates when called upon, and his treatment of what he thought the disease was at the time.  And what he was satisfied that he died with, and that it was from exposure while in the Service of the U. S.  All of these affidavits are particularly referred to for the time the disease was contracted.  The same being, the cause of Husband’s death.  And under these state of facts under your letter of the 23rd of October 1883.  Applicant is disallowed what is justly due her under the laws of  the U.S. made and provided in such cases, surely depriving her now in her old and helpless days of the earnings of her only support, Viz. Her husband

Robert S. Myers, who died from the disease contracted while in the Service of the U.S. by exposure, which his comrades swore as well as our family Physician Doctor Thomas P. Stevenson, who attended him after his discharge from the Mexican War for rheumatism.  See his different affidavits, which is particularly referred to as well as the comrades affidavits filed ought to be filed on my claim No. 252383. As well as the letters mailed you that I received from the commisioned officers, look over them all.  And then say as I take you to be an Honorable Gentleman whether or not I am entitled to receive pay for the only one that I gave to support the government of the U.S.  Therefore I must respectfully ask Your Honor to reinstate my application and notify me of any additional proof you may require, giving me P. O. address AC.  I hope and trust under these State of facts you will reinstate my claim and permit me again to be heard upon any evidence you may require.  This I think I am entitled to under the laws of the U.S. and I call upon you to do unto me as you have others to do unto you.  Let me sink or fall, I am entitled to my rights
