Ivory (Ivory) Sanders

Ivory Sanders, the son of James Sanders, was born 1833 in Tennessee.  He married Susannah Rutledge 2 Feb 1852 in Franklin County, Tennessee. Ivory and Susannah lived in Jackson County, Alabama, and had two children: Lily and George Sanders.

Ivory served in the First Alabama Independent Vidette Cavalry Company A, and was a farmer when he enlisted. He was an orderly for Gen Hooker by order of Gen Hooker. Ivory was 5’ 8" tall, dark complexion, dark hair, and had gray eyes.

Ivory also served in the Paint Rock Rifles.  He enlisted with the Rifles on the 17th day of Sept 1861, but was dropped from roll as a deserter 10 June 1862.

He lived in Trenton, Jackson County, Alabama; Gurley, Madison County; Alabama; and Des An Prairies County, Ark.
