MELMETH C. LACKEY
(JOHN S.3, JOHN S. OR L.2, WILLIAM1) was born November
21, 1839 in Lincoln Co., N.C., and died October 15, 1905. He
married MELISSA A. E. MITCHELL March 23, 1862 in DeKalb Co., Ala.. She
was born Abt. 1840.
Notes for:
MELMETH C. LACKEY:
Identified as the M. Lackey who married in 1862. In 1866, there is a
single Mirah Lackey with small children near John and Lucinda on Sand
Mountain. "Melmuth" was in the Malone's Conf Cav before joining up with
the Vidette in the Fall of 1863. In Malone's you will find him listed
as "M. C." When he signed up with the Vidette his name was written as
"Melhinth" C. Lacky. His place of birth was listed as Lincoln County,
NC and the sign up paper said he was 23 yeard old so he would have been
born around 1839 or 1840 depending if his birthday came after September
which it apparently does. --Alfred
