Happy Birthday C.U.M.I. !!
Happy Birthday
Christians United Ministries, Inc., C.U.M.I. It is hard to believe that we officially began just two short years ago on August 4, 1999. I say officially because that’s the day IRS granted us non-profit tax-exempt status. The board, officers and many of the volunteers of C.U.M.I. had been prayer partners for about six years before this date. Then Jesus stepped us into a whole new realm of prayer/intercession. We are not a church or under the headship of any denomination or organization. We are independent before Jesus. We truly understand the necessity of prayer and know Jesus doesn't move until someone prays. Jesus truly is the founder and the headship of this ministry of prayer. HE allowed us to establish it for Him. With Jesus we are an organization with purpose. We are thankful not only to Jesus but to all of you, who have given of your time and strength to help us grow, to those of you who have helped reach the lost, encourage the backslider and uplift the believer through prayer. God has used you in many ways. Through the telephone prayer line alone we have led many to Christ, have foiled the attempt of satan to draw many to suicide, and have encouraged the backslider to return to fellowship with Jesus. Every day hurting people call and Jesus allows us to be there to help. We are receiving more calls than we have people available to answer, but Jesus will take care of that too. We receive countless numbers of prayer requests through email. We respond to them as the Lord leads. Then we share them with those all over the world to pray. Jesus has expanded “HIS” ministry of prayer from a handful to countless numbers we are sure expands up to the half million mark if not more. Jesus has allowed us to partner with thousands of prayer teams who also partner with other prayer teams. If you are a part of a prayer team, you may receive requests directly or indirectly from C.U.M.I. It is amazing the parts of the world that HE has touched through prayer. Many churches take the prayer requests to their weekly prayer meeting to pray corporately for them. Hannah and a group of ladies in India receive requests from us daily. Each lady spends a couple hours in prayer daily for the needs. When you call or email a request to little ole Elberta, Alabama, many in the USA as well as India, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Chile, etc. could be up- |
lifting your need. It doesn’t really matter where you are when you pray, it’s the source of where your prayers are going that counts. ONLY Jesus...ONLY JESUS can answer our prayers. It is so wonderful because HE DOES. We see countless miracles daily. Each day we are blessed to know that another miracle is in the making as we wait the confirmation of what Jesus has done. Although we keep a low overhead, the cost of the phones, paper and postage can mount up quickly. Jesus has laid it on many hearts to sow into this ministry. “Jesus” has met our every need through believers like you who understand the importance and power of prayer. It is amazing the number of people that get in touch with us and say, “We don’t have a prayer team in our church, I’m so glad I found you.” Again, we want to thank JESUS for allowing us to be HIS servants, HIS ears, HIS mouth, HIS hands as we reach out to hurting hearts to share the love of who HE is. Thank you all for your support through prayer most of all, for your financial help and for all those who volunteer.
