It turned out to be a blessing in disguise from Up Above! Because of seemingly endless travails, Rommie ended up being the latest darling of media.
Unless you live in that part of the country where TV is virtually never heard, you probably have seen Rommie's (TUMMY!) exposure in two game shows. And not only that, he was also picked in the Philippine Daily Inquirer's Sunday Magazine as one of the featured students for it's March 2001 Graduation Special. And now he's over the Internet with this article!(That's truly an honor don't you think?!) So what's all this hype about him?
His first tv appearance was at an Eat Bulaga game portion November 2000. But unfortunately he lost in that game and only got a measly 500 Pesos consolation prize. But the quest for media supremacy has just started.
Despite having some difficulties in connecting to the game show "Who Want's To Be A Millionnaire?," he was selected among thousands of contestants nationwide to be a contestant of the show. So he went on together with long-time friend Jinky and lady luck smiled at him that day since he got for himself the P50,000.00 prize. More than enough to cover all his expenses for the semester and for the review classes as well.
And when it rains it pours for this guy as his scholarship grant from Toyota Motor Philippines was granted back to him in February in time for his 22nd birthday. Of course, he celebrated it with a big bang together with his friends!(me included)
Due to his amazing success, a friend recommended his story for the Graduation Special for Sunday Inquirer Magazine. The UST ECE Faculty even had the online version of the story printed and posted for everyone to see. They must be proud too!
And as if all of these are not enough, the greatest blessing and surprise appearance of them all is this news article you're reading right now! Now that's really cool!(he he)
