We are a bunch of nuts! Not your every-day, garden-variety nuts, but fully
certified, card-carrying Fiero nuts. That's the easiest way to describe it.
The "Alabama" part isn't entirely accurate because we have members all through
the Southeast and beyond. We pickup members from other states without established
clubs. The "Fiero" part isn't a requirement for membership, either. But you
do have to be nuts. Nuts for the car and nuts for the people who are nuts
for the car. If this is you, then consider yourself a member of ALABAMA
FIEROS.
Prepare to take the oath: (raise your right hand and repeat after me)
"I'm nuts!"
-Congratulations, it's good to have you as a member.
Now that we've established what an Alabama Fieros member is, our next
topic:
What is a nut? (here are a few examples)
-A nut will drive nine hours to a Fiero event. JUST SO THEY CAN DRIVE
SOME MORE!
-A nut will wave at another Fiero going in the opposite direction on the
road.
-A nut will follow another Fiero going in the same direction so they can
talk with them in a parking lot.
-A nut will plan their vacation schedule around Fiero events.
-A nut will take off on weekends to be with other nuts.
If this is you, guess what? YOU'RE NUTS!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Okay, I'm a nut. What kinds of things have the other nuts done?
Alabama Fieros members have:
-Made very respectable showings at the Fiero shows in the Southeast, including
Florida Fiero Weekend
in Daytona, the Run For The Hills events,
The
Fiero Swap Meet in Toney, AL, and the National Fiero conventions, and
the Annual Alabama Fieros Great Pumpkin Run. -Hosted
two of the Run
For The Hills events in Cherokee, NC (1997) and Beech Mtn, NC (1999)
-Won several trophies at the Florida Fiero
Weekend, including 2 for "Best Club Participation" -Won several trophies
at the National Fiero Conventions -Banded together to buy an original unused
1984 Fiero billboard to display at
the Fiero
Factory in Toney, AL. -Volunteered to assist in the preparations of the
annual
Fiero
Swap meet, also in Tony, AL.

What do I have to do to become an official Alabama Fieros nut? -That's
easy. Just send an Email to
alafieroinfo@charter.net and
you'll be put on the list to get Email updates. You'll get an Email periodically
letting you know of upcoming Alabama Fieros events and other items of interest
to Alabama Fieros members. -We'd like to have you send in some pictures of
your Fieros so I can post them on the Alabama Fieros Photopoint page. Please
include your name, city and a description of your cars. I'll post them so
you can join us on our virtual Wall of Fame. -It would be great if you come
to as many events as possible. We try to give as much notice of upcoming
events as we can so that everyone can arrange their schedules to attend.
Getting together is the best part of the club. -If you have any ideas for
clubs activities, please let us know. Car shows, cruises, autocrosses, parades,
picnics, that kind of thing. We'll post them in the Updates and have another
reason to get together. -If you have any personal news, please send that
in, too. weddings, birthdays, new additions to the family, winning a trophy
at a car show. This is great Update material, we all like to know what is
going on in the Alabama Fieros Community. -If you have any skills, talents
or connections that you would like to volunteer to help the club, please
let us know. Skills like graphic arts, Tshirt design, screenprinting, computer
animation, spare tow dolly, engine or suspension expertise, specialty tools,
photography and videography would all be useful.
Drop us a line and we would
be grateful for the assistance when the occasion presents itself.

Here are the details to the above events
12th Annual Run For The Hills
The Run For The Hills will be returning to one of our old haunts at the Comfort Inn in Dawsonville, Ga. This will be the primary hotel.
Reservation Information: For September 14-16, 2007
Comfort Inn
127 Beartooth Pkwy. (Off Ga. Hwy 400)
Dawsonville, Ga.
706-216-1900
Shelby is the manager and the special rates are $73.79 for 2 Queen size beds and $78.29 for a King size bed and Sofabed. The cutoff date for this rate is August 31st. All rooms are non-smoking. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, which should be completed by the 3rd week of August. For special rates, tell them you are with The Georgia Fiero Club. The manager remembers our past events and welcomes us on our return.
Though we are again basing in Dawsonville, and some of you will recognize some of the scenery, the RFTH 12 will not be a rehash of an old run. Better than 50 % of the run has never experenced 30-40 Fieros passing in unison.
The recommended overflow hotel is The Best Western. This was recommended by Comfort Inn as being the best of the other local hotels. The Best Western will not give us a special rate unless someone wishes to secure all rooms with their credit card, so you are on your own if you don't reserve at the Comfort Inn.
Reservation Information:
Best Western
76 N. Georga Ave.
Dawsonville, Ga.
706-216-4410
The Best Western is across Ga. Hwy 400 from the Comfort Inn
We are still working with the restaurant chosen for the lunch stop. They are suggesting 3-4 select entrees so that they can serve us quickly and we can be in and out within an hour. Individual dinner checks, and no gratuity added. Black Angus or Buffalo Burgers for those who desire. This is a very good restaurant with quality food, and very good prices.
Evening festivities will be hosted by Lorena's, located just 1/2 mile from our hotel. Each party may order from an open menu, and again, you will receive individual checks. Gratuity will not be automatically added. Lorena has said that she will also add Prime Rib to the menu for our group. We will have a private area and all be seated in the same room. Food, Spirits, and live music.

RFTH12 Shirts
Run For The Hills #12 shirts are now available. The shirts will be offered in Adult sizes Small through 3XXX. The shirts are the same top of the line Hanes Soft Link shirts we have always provided. They have a 100% cotton lining with a polyester outer layer. These shirts do not shrink, so no need to order a larger size. The shirts are designed by Hanes to hold full-color prints without fading, so the image will remain bright for years to come. You cannot feel the print, so no hot sweaty spots underneath the images.
Cost of each shirt is $20 dollars. The shirts will be delivered at the event on September 14 and 15. If you desire to have your shirt mailed to you, the additional cost is $2 for the first shirt and $1.50 for the second shirt, when shipped in the same package. Final order date is August 31. All shirts will be made to order and there will be no extras available at the run. Orders postmarked after August 31 will be returned unless shipping costs are included.
Sorry, due to the problems you and we encountered last year, we are not set up for PayPal or credit cards. To place your order, send your name, address, email or phone number and the quantity and sizes you desire, along with your personal check or money order made payable to:

Everyone will meet up after the parade, visit, and we will leave for the
lakes area around 11:00 a.m.

Your Fiero does not have to be show ready to participate! Our goal is to let
folks know Fieros are still going strong! If you can't bring your Fiero,
please attend anyway! All other sports cars, collectibles, and classics are
welcome to join us as well. If you can't make the entire cruise, you can
call the number above, and meet us during the cruise, or join us for lunch!
Although our event is not a competition, to celebrate the 20th anniversary
of the 87 Fiero, a framed certificate will be given for the best stock 87
Fiero in attendance. With this honor comes a chance to compete against other
87 Fiero winners at Fierorama near Chicago, IL on September 9, 2007
Hope to see you then!
