In the name of God Amen April 1, 1818 I William Kent Sr of Halifax County being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory and having to mind the frailty of my Mortal body do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows that is to say first I recomment my soul to the hands of the Almighty God who gave it nothing doubting that I shall at the resurection receive the same again etc. As to my worldly estate I do make my will and dispose of as follows: Item: I give unto my sons George Kent, son Stephen, son Wm. Thomas , Dau Lucy Wood, & Tricy Handy & Nancy Cranshaw & Molly Perry & Agnes Sturdivant one dollar each to all of these and no more. I direct that all my just debts be paid out of my estate on the balance both real and personal of every kind. I give to my son Pleasant Kent, only he is to maintain his mother her life, but provided my son Pleasant shall die without lawful heirs my will is that the last part of my estate which he has shall be equally divided between his brothers and sisters. I do appoint and ordain my son Pleasant and my friend Beverly Borum sole executors of this my last will and testament.
