Christmas 1984
This is me with my forth CPK Ethan Skipp on Christmas morning 1984 when I was 9 years. He is fresh out of the box in this picture. |
I have always loved dolls. I have been collecting dolls since I was 12 years old. I collect all kinds of different dolls and my tastes change from time to time. I got my first Cabbage Patch Kid in the summer of 1984. She was a Preemie and her name was Katerina Marilyn. I called her Katy. After I got Katy I was hooked and throughout the next couple of years I adopted over 15 Cabbage Patch Kids, all Coleco kids. My interest in them faded over time, but I still loved my kids and had kept them all these years. Spring 1999 I was at a doll show where a soft sculptured Cabbage Patch Kid named Amber Stacy caught my eye. As soon as I saw her I knew I had to take her home with me. I had always wanted a soft sculptured kid and now I finally had one. That sparked my interest in Cabbage Patch Kids again. I started looking online and found tons of kids on ebay and the rest is history! In May, 1999 I had under 20 kids and now I have over 200! And I am always adopting new ones! I love the origninal soft sculptured Little People and Cabbage Patch Kids, Coleco kids and Jesmars the best. My first visit to Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia was Fall, 2000. I had wanted to visit there since I first heard about it in 1983 and it was an incredible trip! I have since made another trip to Babyland in May 2001 for the CPK Collectors Club Spring Event. I also plan to go to Spring Event next year.
This picture was taken in June, 1999 while I was at a convention in San Antonio, Texas. |
