I - FAR FROM YOKAHOMA
Mitzuko and Jun come to Memphis from Japan to visit the Kings home (Graceland) Mitzuko speaks very little English and Jun speaks none at all so this part is subtitled. Mitzuko is Jun's girlfriend and she is the big Elvis fan whereas Jun prefers Carl Perkins.
What I like best about this part of the film is that Mitzuko is working on a book where she visually compares Elvis to such icons as Budha, the Statue of Liberty, and Madonna. The cool thing about this is that in the pictures she uses they actually resemble Elvis.
II - THE GHOST
An Italian woman accompanying her dead husband is left in Memphis because of scheduling conflict. There is only one room left at the hotel (same one Mitzuko & Jun are staying) so she agrees to share with another woman. The Ghost of Elvis visits her by mistake in the middle of the night. the best part about this is that TOM WAITS does the voice of the DJ on the radio. I especially like his commercial for a new seafood place called JIFFY SQUID.
III - LOST IN SPACE
This final chapter is the most exciting of the 3. Johnny played well by JOE STRUMMER is hanging out at an all black bar and getting wasted. He is upset because he is unemployed and his wife just left him. He decides he wants to play around with a gun so the guys at the bar call his friend Will Robinson (hence the title) to come get him. Will comes and brings Johnny's brother in law Charlie (Steve Buscemi). They acquire a couple of bottles from a liquor store and this sets the pace for an exciting evening.
