I Saw...
I saw a boy with no legs
sitting on the floor, put on a horses back.
Now he has four. I saw a blind man
stumble in the dark, mount an Arabian and
ride in the park. I saw a little girl
twisted by disease, sit on a horses back
pretty as you please. I saw a woman who is mentally ill, laugh and smile while riding old Bill.
I saw myself change inside,
When I saw the handicapped ride.

Happiness
Happiness starts with a pony for the child who is out on his own.
With a pony to chase and a helper to care he will can never again feel alone.

I Saw a Child...
I saw a child who couldn't walk,
sit on a horse, laugh and talk.
Then ride it through a field of daisies
and yet he could not walk unaided.
I saw a child, no legs below,
sit on a horse, and make it go
Through woods of green to sit and stare,
except from a chair.
I saw a child who could only crawl
mount a horse and sit up tall.
put it through degrees and paces
and laugh at the wonder in our faces.
I saw a child born into strife,
take up and hold the reins of life
and that same child was heard to say,
"Thank God for showing me the way..."
