BOTELER 


James Knox Boteler, Jr., born April 6, 1946 in Tuscaloosa, AL passed on Wednesday, November, 16, 2011 at the W.F. Green
Veterans Home in Bay Minette, AL.
Jim served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a graduate of Livingston University and served as the
college's SGA President. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
A resident of Mobile for the majority of his life, Jim was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as a
Deacon and an Elder. He and his family owned Boteler Meat Distributors on Halls Mill Road for many years. Jim was an avid
outdoorsman and coached several local youth baseball and softball teams. Jim was a member of a Mardi Gras society. He was
a supporter of all athletic programs at the University of Alabama. Jim never missed the opportunity to share a meal,
story, and a laugh with friends and family. This joy carried over later in life during visits with his grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Ola Dean Roberts Boteler, and brother John Myron Boteler.
He is survived by his father, James Knox Boteler; sister, Susan Boteler Caples (Bruce); children, James Knox Boteler, III
(Marian) and Linnie Boteler Pawlek (Andrew); grandchildren, Anne Gliddon Boteler, James Knox Boteler, IV and Reed Elliott
Pawlek; and other relatives and friends.
Burial at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, Tuscaloosa, AL.
