Louise Tabb Harden

NORTHPORT Louise Tabb Harden, age 98, of Northport, died July 17, 2011, at home. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home followed by 1 p.m. graveside services at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Lauralee Stapp Estes officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oreon Hughes Tabb, Sr. and Mary Eugenia Millsaps; brother, Oreon Hughes Tabb, Jr.; and husband, David Ralph Harden, Sr.

Survivors include sons, David Ralph Harden, Jr. (Marian) and John Deigh Harden (Fay); grandsons, John David Harden (Laura) and Michael Murry Harden; step-granddaughter, Melanie Smith; and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Grace, and Ann Harden, and Cody Smith.

She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1929 and the University of Alabama in 1933 with honorary societies Alpha Lambda Delta and Kappa Delta Pi and social sorority Zeta Tau Alpha.

For 34 years, she taught in the Tuscaloosa City School System, primarily at Tuscaloosa High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa and a 70-year member of the Amelia Gayle Gorgas Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, namely Jamie, Stefanie, Kim, and Kathy; Dr. Douglas Reynolds and staff; George Pugh of Rite Aid Pharmacy; Ann Hagler; Amy, Amanda, and Wesley Griffin; the Rodgers Family; and members of the Four Winds Subdivision.

Pallbearers will be John Harden, Michael Harden, Hugh Tabb, Mike Tabb, Herschel McEwen, Jr., Jerry McEwen and Steve Moreno.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made payable to Amedisys Hospice Christen Foundation, 500 Towncenter Blvd, Suite B, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406, or the First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa. Published in Tuscaloosa News on July 20, 2011
