Milo James Thatch is the grandson of Thaddeus Thatch. Like his grandfather he has a dream of finding Atlantis. He is dedicated to his job as a linguist. He doesn’t have much luck at getting funding at his job, as he is banished to the boiler room most often, until one night.

Milo comes home to find a beautiful blond sitting in his living room. Her name is Helga Sinclair and she has come to see Milo on behalf of her boss, Mr. Whitmore. It turns out Mr. Whitmore was a friend of Milo’s late grandfather. While Thaddeus was still alive they had made a bet, if he found the Shepherd’s Journal, a book telling the whereabouts of Atlantis, he would fund a expedition to find Atlantis. Well he lost the bet, Thaddeus brought back the book from Iceland and Whitmore will keep his promise by sending Milo.

Along for the trip is the original team who helped Milo’s grandfather find the journal. Captain Rourke, Lt. Helga Sinclair, Cookie, the ship’s chef, Dr. Sweet, Gaetan “Mole” Moliere, Wilhelmina Packard, Audrey Ramirez, and Vincenzo “Vinny” Santorini.

As the ship reaches near the entrance to a cavern they are attacked by a giant mechanical lobster. Some of the crew escapes, but many die. The remaining crew sets off towards Atlantis.

After the crew all go to sleep they are paid a visit by some unseen strangers wearing masks. One of the masks sees that Milo has the Shepherd’s Journal. Milo getting up scares them off and Milo soon after notices the camp set on fire.

During the fire and chaos Milo is seperated from the rest of the crew and is hurt. He sees the strangers in masks. One of them takes their mask off to reveal a exotic girl. She uses the blue crystal around her neck to heal Milo’s cut. The warriors flee and Milo follows, finding the entrance to the remains of Atlantis. His dream has finally come true.
