Personality: A loner, Cessa doesn't like to spend a lot of time around other people. She is slow to trust and makes few friends. She has an active imagination, though, and tends to daydream a lot. She is an avid reader and loves all types of stories. Her years of reading have also given her the ability to focus rather well for someone her age. She has a tendency to come across as rude and cold because she'd rather spend her time reading than talking to other people.
History: Cessa was born to a blue rider father and a lower caverns worker mother. Her parents weren't actually all that fond of each other and viewed her birth as a one time thing. She was a healthy child and grew up in the Lower Caverns with the other weyrbred children. She rarely saw either parent but always preferred her father over her mother. He was rather kind to her when he did visit and often brought small toys or gifts with him. Her mother, on the other hand, seemed rather frightening to her as a child, and Cessa did her best to stay out of her way.
Even though Cessa was fond of her father, her favorite person in the world was her older half brother. He was the only one who really took the time to make sure she was properly looked after and first started telling her the stories she grew to love. As soon as she could read even a little, she begged and pled with him to help her read the stories out of the records for herself. He agreed, and Cessa has almost never been seen without a record of some sort to read since.
Other than her half-brother, Cessa didn't have any friends growing up. Her father noticed this early on and brought her a couple of firelizard egss for her thirteenth turn day. The eggs soon hatched into her most precious friends, and she has been on the hunt for more eggs ever since.
As Cessa raised and took care of her new firelizards, she began to wonder about possibly becoming a rider of their much larger cousins like her father. Her half-brother had already left for the Harper Hall, and while she had originally planned on following him, the thought of becoming a rider began to take over her many daydreams. So, it was no surprise when she was asked to stand for a clutch a little more than a turn later. She happily accepted and now has the wonderful opportunity to learn and grow with her newest best friend Ancestanth, who just may be able to bring her out of her shell.
