Personality: Despite being you, Denaff is very intelligent. He's good with numbers, which makes him an asset to his father. Unfortunately, he has a tendancy to be a bit clumsy, so he's usually left to the figures and away from the merchandise. Denaff is very well-mannered and rather cheerful. He easily makes friends with those he meets in his travels and always looks forward to the next stop.
History: Denaff was born as the oldest son to a traveling merchant and his wife. Unfortunately, a year ago his mother disappeared. She went into a nearby town during one of their stops and never returned. Despite their frantic search, they never found her or any information on her whereabouts. So, as they continue to travel they always keep their eyes and ears open, hoping that someone somewhere would have seen her though they all assume that she is gone.
With his mother gone, Denaff often looks after his younger brother while the other merchants are busy with their various stalls. He loves his little brother and often plays games with him to keep him entertained or buys him small treats to keep him happy. He also enjoys teaching his brother the things that he knows, including how to read and work with numbers.
Denaff learned how to read at an early age. Although the other merchants didn't really see the need to teach the children such things, his parents insisted that their children have such knowledge since they'd often wished that they had learned. Denaff was a very quick learner and proved to have a natural gift with numbers that made his father very proud. He was always a bit clumsy and awkward though, and as he grew older his coordiantion didn't improve. After breaking several valuable items, his father relagated him to the books instead of dealing with customers.
When Denaff is not counting, figuring, or watching his little brother, he loves to go into the towns they visit and spend time with people his own age. He especially loves festivals as they bring in the most people and usually include dancing and games. It was at a recent festival that he acquired his two pets. He's fairly good with animals and hopes to have the well-trained soon.
While Denaff's caravan was visiting a large town near Drockh-Tallahn Castle, judges were in the town looking for possible aspirants. Denaff didn't give much attention to the judges at first. He'd run across various ones many times in his travels, but he still couldn't help but watch the proceedings as young men and women gathered before them. Soon, almost unconciously, he found himself amongst them, and just as suddenly, he found himself being asked to go to the castle. After speaking to his father, he decided to go with the judges. Who wouldn't? It was the chance of a lifetime, and he just knew that he'd be chosen!
