Personality: If there's one word to describe Lersend, it's stubborn. Once he's set his mind to something, he doesn't give up easily, if ever. Because of this, he's very hard working and goal driven. He focuses on something until he accomplishes it, period. Lersend makes friends easily, but he has a tendency to hold grudges against those that have wronged him.
History: Lersend grew up with a tanner father and a weaver mother. His father spent most of his time focusing on his older brother, which left Lersend to spend most of his time with his mother. His mother, to keep the active child busy, taught him the basics of weaving. When she saw that Lersend had a knack for the craft, she continued to teach him. His father didn't mind this since Lersend was very young, and it kept him out of trouble. He also assumed that as Lersend grew he would lose interest in weaving. This, however, never happened.
As Lersend grew, so did his interest in the weaving craft. His mother continued to teach him despite his father's growing disapproval. This sparked many arguments between his parents until shortly after his twelfth turn when his mother passed away. Lersend couldn't help but partially blame his father for his mother's death. He had seen first hand the kind of stress the conflicts between his parents put on her.
Even after his mother's death, Lersend continued to practice the weaving craft on his mother's looms, the large one she had kept downstairs as well as the small lap one, which she had completely given over to him shortly before her death. With his wife's death, Lersend's father assumed that all the "weaving nonsense", as he chose to call it, was over, but he had been sorely mistaken. However, Lersend's father was too busy grieving for his wife and teaching his oldest son the tanning craft to be overly aware of what his younger son was up to.
Three turns after his mother's death, Lersend's father remarried and subsequently had two more sons. With the marriage to his new wife, Lersend's father saw it fit to clear out all of his first wife's things, including her loom. This was a terrible blow to the young Lersend, and he never forgave his father for doing such a thing. Their relationship quickly disintegrated afterwards.
With his mother's large loom gone and all talk of weaving banned in his home, Lersend was forced to find an alternate way to practice his budding craft. Luckily an older lady in the hold who had known his mother allowed him to use her loom and continued to teach him at his request unbeknowst to his father. When his father eventually found out, chaos ensued, and Lersend subsequently left home.
After leaving home, Lersend began living holdless in some caves nearby. It was while he was living here that he found his firelizards who kept him company during the worst of times. Later Lersend joined a traveling group. While with them, he did odd jobs for money while the women in the group taught him weaving tricks he hadn't learned before. Eventually he had earned and saved enough money to finally settle down in a hold near Sedona Weyr. It was here that he was eventually Searched.
