A Kiss Of Insomnia

A Kiss of Insomnia

Rory awoke to the sound of someone tapping on her window. She tried to go back to sleep, figuring it to be a tree branch, or something similar. She tolled back over, however, when the tapping became more incessant.

Groaning, Rory sat up. She squinted at her window, but of course she couldn't see anything, what with the curtains being closed and all. She sighed and got out of bed, walking over to the window. She pushed back the curtains and was surprised to find herself face to face with Jess.

Should she be surprised? Who else would be outside her window, trying to wake her up, at...one thirty in the morning? Damn. She had school tomorrow! Oh wait...That's right, tomorrow was Saturday. Oh well, it was all the same.

"Are you going to let me in, or stare at me all night?" Jess asked from the other side of the window, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He smirked at her, and Rory smiled back in amusement.

"Depends," she replied.

"On?" he asked impatiently. It was getting cold outside.

"On what you want."

She didn't wait for him to respond, though. She didn't really care why he was there. All that mattered was that he was. She opened the window and offered her hand to help him in.

Jess closed the window behind him and went over to sit on Rory's bed. She followed suit.

"So was there a reason for this visit, or did you just want to tell me goodnight?"

"I couldn’t sleep," Jess explained. "I took a walk and ended up here."

Rory nodded. She lay down on the bed, pulling her shirt down. She sighed, placing her arms behind her head.

"You said you couldn't sleep, right?" Jess nodded. "Well you do realize that if you do get tired, you'll just have to walk back to Luke's, right?"

Jess shrugged. "Maybe I'll just crash here," he told her, lying down beside her.

Rory shot up. "What? No, you--"

"Relax, I was joking. I guess you're right, though. I should be getting back."

He started to get up, and Rory followed him.

"Besides," he continued, "if Dean ever heard about this..."

Rory nodded. "Yeah."

She watched Jess climb back outside through her window, and she rushed over.

"Jess!" she called.

He turned around. "Yeah?"

She leaned over and gave him a firm kiss on the lips.

"Something to think about on your walk home."

He grinned at her, wanting to kiss her again, but not wanting to press his luck. So he left, before she could apologize for the bold move she had just made.

Jess took his time walking back to Luke's. He whistled gaily, for once glad that he had insomnia.

The End
