Chapter 2

"Mom, I must say that you have truly outdone yourself" Rory exclaimed as she waltzed out of her room in the long, white, off the shoulder, wispy dress her mom had spent two weeks making for her. "Wow" her mom said "Someone hit you with the pretty stick" "Don't say that, last time you said that I ended up spending the night with a guy!!" Rory joked. Lorelai smiled to herself and said,  "Well we better go, or you'll be late for your own party!!" and they were out the door.

Nobody in Stars Hollow was at home, every single person was packed into the "Grand Room" at the Independence Inn. The banner draped over the doors read "Congratulations Rory, We Knew You Could Do It!!" and as soon as Rory saw it she blushed. After she had greeted everyone, and received more "You look like a princess" and "That dress makes you look like Snow White's then should even be allowed in a fairy tale she decided she was going to have fun, even if Jess couldn't be there. She was still bummed about the whole situation but she knew that if it were humanly possible, Jess would have been there, so she wasn't angry or anything. Every one was dancing and laughing, and Lane was playing DJ with Dave. She sought out her mom and they jitterbugged with the best of them, and her dad and her slow danced to Frank Sinatra, then Blur with Dean. She made a mental note to tell Lane how good her music choice was. Her and Dean had actually become friends over the past few months, there was a lot of uncomfortable moments at the beginning, but now the three of them (her Dean and Jess) could be in a room and have a civil conversation. Dean had moved on and had another girlfriend named Marissa, and her and Rory were completely friendly, so everything was good in Stars Hollow.

The music ended after about two hours and dinner was served at 5 PM sharp, Sookie had outdone herself again, lamb chops sautéed in honey an basil, and tofu for the Kim's as well as a delicious Mint Ice-Cream Pie desert, and of course Twinkies, because they were Rory's favorite. The only odd thing was that Rory's portions were slightly smaller then the other's. When she asked Sookie about this Sookie kind of babbled on about how maybe Rory would be eating later and was completely incoherent until Lorelai shut her up with a look. Rory wondered why on earth she would be eating later, but dismissed this as just another Sookie-ism and went back to her dinner.

"Bye, thank you so much for coming!" Rory said to the last of the stragglers "Oy" she said as she shut the door "Loong night" "Yes but great Risotto" said Lorelai "It is magical" Rory agreed and she began to go get her coat. "Uh where do you think you're going pretty lady?" asked her dad, blocking her path to the coatroom. "To get my coat..." "Oh no, we have one more little surprise for you" said Lorelai "Another one? but its 9 PM and I'm tired and my feet hurt from these stupid heels" Rory complained. "Just one more, follow us" they said "And close your eyes" "What?" Rory asked "Just do it, we will lead you.
